✨ Del origen a las prácticas en el taller: un encuentro para transformar la joyería desde su esencia. 💛

Este fin de semana, en el marco de , compartimos una sesión muy especial en la que conversamos sobre el origen y la trazabilidad de los materiales, la minería responsable y las prácticas sostenibles alrededor de la joyería.

Gracias a y a por invitarnos a ser parte de esta iniciativa, y a todas las personas que nos acompañaron y aportaron sus experiencias y conocimientos.

Un espacio en el que compartimos con Marcin Piersiak, director ejecutivo de Europa, y escuchamos las intervenciones de Jessica Charry, de , y los demás participantes, quienes nos acercaron a la realidad de la minería responsable, el oro certificado y el compromiso de quienes trabajan por una cadena de valor más sostenible.

Nova Scotia College of Art and Design just ran its first Fairmined Initiative & Student Award, and we couldn't be more proud.

Seven jewellery students in Halifax, Canada worked with Fairmined Fine and Fairmined Sterling silver to design contemporary lockets. The winning piece, Facetted Bud by Qing Wang, is a locket and tea infuser built with filigree technique, using silver traceable to Fairmined-certified mining organizations in Colombia (Cooperative of Iquira Agromining Organization) and Peru (Oro Puno Mining Organization).

The initiative was led by Professor Greg Sims and made possible in part by a material donation from John Esposito of Jewellers, who helped offset the cost difference between conventional and Fairmined silver.

When design education connects craft, traceability, and community impact, students don't just make better work. They become the next generation of designers asking the right questions about where materials come from and the impact they leave behind.

🏆 From a Fairmined-licensed jeweler to a benchmark for responsible jewelry

Since becoming a Fairmined-licensed jeweler in 2014, Paulette à Bicyclette has demonstrated that responsible sourcing and exceptional craftsmanship can go hand in hand.

The French jewelry brand was recently awarded second place in the 2026 Francéclat CSR Awards, recognizing its continued commitment to sustainability and social responsibility in the jewelry sector.

Over the years, Paulette à Bicyclette has evolved its responsible sourcing approach by combining 100% traceable Fairmined gold with Fairmined Credits, strengthening its support for responsible artisanal and small-scale mining communities while offering more flexible options for clients.

Rather than replacing one model with another, both approaches are seen as complementary—helping to expand positive impact across the supply chain.

Their work highlights a key message: every sourcing decision in jewelry has the power to improve transparency, strengthen mining communities, and contribute to a more responsible industry.

Today we recognize the legacy of Stewart Grice as he prepares to retire from Hoover & Strong, Inc. in June 2026, after a decade of work with the Fairmined Standard. His contribution has been key in strengthening the presence of Fairmined gold in the United States and advancing more responsible supply chains in the jewelry industry.

As highlighted by Lorena Botero from the Fairmined Initiative and the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM), partners like Stewart have been essential in demonstrating that trust, traceability, and shared value are achievable within the sector.

We also acknowledge the continued work of Hoover & Strong, Inc., and the teams that will carry this transition forward, including Fox Williams and Dani Cutler Danforth Cutler, as this important work continues.
