🌊 Nouvelle formation de MSPglobal disponible en français!

Comment la planification de l’espace marin (PEM) peut-elle contribuer à faire face à la perte de biodiversité et au changement climatique?

La nouvelle formation de MSPglobal sur la planification de l’espace marin respectueuse de la biodiversité et intelligente face au climat fournit des orientations pratiques pour intégrer les considérations relatives à la biodiversité et au climat à chaque étapes du processus de PEM.

À travers 8 modules, les participants exploreront:
🔹 Les écosystèmes, les pressions climatiques et les solutions fondées sur la nature
🔹 Les cadres mondiaux et régionaux relatifs àla biodiversité et le climat
🔹 L’Approche écosystémique appliquée à la PEM
🔹 Des approches pratiques pour une PEM respectueuse de la biodiversité et intelligente face au climat
🔹 La gouvernance inclusive et la communication

💻 La formation est gratuite, accessible en ligne et peut être suivie à son propre rythme sans prérequis formel. Elle s’adresse aux professionnels de la planification de l’espace marin, aux décideurs publics, aux scientifiques, aux experts techniques, aux représentants de la société civile ainsi qu’aux étudiants de troisième cycle.

How can we understand the combined effects of multiple pressures on marine ecosystems, and use that knowledge to support better Marine Spatial Planning?

The third volume of the MSPglobal Data Toolbox offers practical guidance on using Cumulative Impact Assessment (CIA) for MSP.

From integrating environmental, socio-economic, and pressure data to addressing uncertainty, data limitations, Indigenous and local knowledge, emerging technologies and future scenarios, the toolbox explores approaches that can help practitioners apply CIA across different regional and governance contexts.

🌊 From 1 to 3 June 2027, Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) authorities, international organisations, experts, and stakeholders from around the world will come together to UNESCO HQ (Paris) to share knowledge and explore the future of MSP.

🌍 Explore how MSP can contribute to sustainable, resilient, and integrated ocean governance.

Organised by the IOC of UNESCO and the European Commission, the conference will provide a space to discuss priority topics and actions for the MSPglobal community to address in the next 5 years.

🌊 La Planificación Espacial Marina (PEM) avanza en Colombia 🇨🇴

Del 18 al 21 de agosto, autoridades, instituciones y actores locales se reunieron en Cartagena de Indias para fortalecer conocimientos y herramientas en Planificación Espacial Marina (PEM) y gestión marino-costera.

La capacitación dio paso a la acción: en el marco del piloto de PEM de la Bahía de Cartagena, las comunidades y otros actores clave trabajaron juntos para identificar los usos, actividades y conflictos que actualmente convergen en este espacio marino-costero.

El resultado: un ejercicio participativo para comprender mejor el presente de la Bahía y sentar las bases para planificar su futuro.

El curso fue organizado por INVEMAR, en alianza con UNESCO-IOCARIBE, el programa MSPglobal de la UNESCO-COI y la estrategia OceanTeacher Global Academy del IODE UNESCO-COI.

How can Marine Spatial Planning help Tanzania build a more sustainable, inclusive and climate-resilient blue economy? 🌊🇹🇿

On 24-25 June, government representatives and practitioners from Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar came together in Dar es Salaam for a national MSP training workshop, co-organized by the World Bank and UNESCO-IOC’s MSPglobal Programme under the “Tanzania Scaling-Up Sustainable Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture Management (TASFAM) Project“.

Across two inspiring days, participants:
🌊 Explored the six phases of MSP through the MSPglobal International Guide
🤝 Strengthened cross-sectoral collaboration and coordination
🗺️ Discussed how MSP can help balance fisheries, aquaculture, tourism, conservation, maritime transport, and other uses of marine space
🎯 Put their skills into practice through the MSP Challenge, a strategy board game simulating real-world negotiations, conflicts, and trade-offs

The training built on important progress already underway in both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, helping establish a shared foundation for the country’s next steps in MSP.

This training is also another example of how the partnership between IOC of UNESCO and the World Bank’s PROBLUE Multi-Donor Trust Fund is helping countries strengthen their capacity. The partnership continues to help countries move from MSP ambition to implementation.

🌊 Advancing Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) in the Wider Caribbean and Latin America

🤝 From May 11-13, 2026, the and initiative of -IOC, will bring together MSP practitioners from IOCARIBE Member States and regional organizations at in Santa Marta, Colombia for two engagements that will:

- Strengthen collaboration and share regional processes at the Second IOCARIBE Marine Spatial Planning Task Team meeting (IOCARIBE MSP-TT).
- Develop hands-on skills in the regional training on biodiversity inclusive & climate-smart MSP

🌍 These engagements provide a space for exchange, learning and action toward more inclusive and climate-smart planning.
