EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI) is a policy platform of independent women’s rights organizations from the two shores of the Mediterranean. EuroMed Feminist Initiative will continue to advocate for women’s rights as universal human rights and full part of democracy and citizenship, together against war and occupation, for the right of peoples to self-determination. Through its platform, EuroMed Feminist Initiative speaks out for women's universal rights, locally, regionally and internationally.

شاركت في اجتماع فريق الخبراء لمراجعة الورقة الفنية حول التعافي وإعادة الإعمار، الذي نظمته لجنة الأمم المتحدة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لغربي آسيا «الإسكوا»، خلال يومي 8 و9 تموز/يوليو 2026 في عمّان، الأردن.

وضمن أعمال الاجتماع، شاركت الأستاذة هديل أبو حيانة، مديرة البرامج في المبادرة النسوية الأورومتوسطية، متحدثةً في الجلسة الثالثة المعنونة “تمويل إعادة الإعمار: آليات الحوكمة والضبط والمراقبة”، حيث قدمت عرضًا بعنوان “الاستثمار وإعادة إعمار سوريا”.

واستند العرض إلى دليل إعادة الإعمار المراعي للنوع الاجتماعي في سوريا، الصادر عن المبادرة النسوية الأورومتوسطية، ومن إعداد الدكتور إبراهيم دراجي وفرح حويجة، ويتناول أحدث الاعتبارات والتنبيهات بشأن الوضع في سوريا، كما أثارها الشركاء الذين نتقدم إليهم بخالص الشكر والتقدير.

EuroMed Feminist Initiative participated in the Expert Group Meeting to Review the Technical Paper on Recovery and Reconstruction, organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) on 8–9 July 2026 in Amman, .

As part of the meeting, Hadeel Abu Hayyaneh, Programmes Manager at EuroMed Feminist Initiative, delivered a presentation entitled “From Rebuilding Infrastructure to Rebuilding Rights and Opportunities: Financing, Human Rights, and Gender Equality.”

The presentation was based on the Handbook for Engendering the Reconstruction Process in Syria, published by EuroMed Feminist Initiative, and on the recent considerations and alerts on the situation in Syria raised by EFI partners, to whom we express our sincere gratitude.

Within the framework of the project “Strengthening Women’s CSOs Working on the Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine.” implemented by Euromed Feminist Initiative and funded by the support fund for feminist organisations of agence française de développement and the french ministry for europe and foreign affairs, a roundtable event was organized by PARD as a local partner for Association Najde to create a platform for dialogue on the inclusion of refugee women, particularly Palestinian and Syrian women, in Lebanon’s second NAP for UNSCR 1325. In the concluding panel discussion, moderated by Ms. Josiane Elhaddad, the esteemed speakers, Ms. Brigitte Chalabian (lawyer- Justice without Frontiers) and Ms. Raghida Ghamloush (Massarat) explored how both Palestinian and Syrian women can be integrated within the four WPSA pillars, in the second NAP for UNSCR 1325.

📍ضمن جهود المبادرة النسوية الأورومتوسطية لمتابعة تنفيذ استراتيجية تمكين المرأة المنبثقة عن رؤية التحديث الاقتصادي، عُقدت في محافظة إربد جلسة حوارية بالشراكة مع جمعية تحفيز للريادة والتطوير ومركز الأميرة بسمة لدراسات المرأة في جامعة اليرموك.

استعرضت الجلسة أبرز مستجدات تنفيذ الاستراتيجية، وناقشت التحديات والفرص المتعلقة بتعزيز المشاركة الاقتصادية للمرأة في المحافظات، إلى جانب دور الجامعات، ومنظمات المجتمع المدني، والبلديات في دعم تنفيذ الاستراتيجية على المستوى المحلي.

كما شهدت الجلسة نقاشاً تفاعلياً وتبادلاً للخبرات وأفضل الممارسات، واختُتمت بمجموعة من التوصيات العملية التي تسهم في تعزيز الشراكات المحلية ودعم تحقيق أهداف رؤية التحديث الاقتصادي.

📍As part of EuroMed Feminist Initiative's ongoing efforts to follow up on the implementation of the Engendered Strategy under Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision, a dialogue session was held in Irbid in partnership with Tahfeez Association for Entrepreneurship and Development and Princess Basma Center for Women's Studies at Yarmouk University.

The session reviewed the latest progress in implementing the Strategy and explored the key challenges and opportunities for advancing women's economic participation across the governorates. It also highlighted the important role of universities, civil society organisations, and municipalities in supporting implementation at the local level.

Participants engaged in an interactive discussion, exchanged experiences and good practices, and concluded with practical recommendations aimed at strengthening local partnerships and advancing the objectives of Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision.

Within the framework of the project “Strengthening Women’s CSOs Working on the Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine.” implemented by Euromed Feminist Initiative and funded by the support fund for feminist organisations of agence française de développement and the french ministry for europe and foreign affairs, a roundtable event was organized by PARD as a local partner for Association Najde to create a platform for dialogue on the inclusion of refugee women, particularly Palestinian and Syrian women, in Lebanon’s second NAP for UNSCR 1325. In the second panel, moderated by Ms. Alaa Al-Sayyed (Najde Association), the respected speakers, Mr. Mohamad Saleh and Ms. Ghada Nicolas (lawyer- RDFL), discussed national return policies, their gendered impacts, and women’s protection concerns, focusing on the case of the Syrian Refugee women in light of “voluntary return” strategies.

Within the framework of the project “Strengthening Women’s CSOs Working on the Implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine.” implemented by EuroMed Feminist Initiative and funded by the support fund for feminist organisations of AFD - Agence Française de Développement and the french ministry for europe and foreign affairs, a roundtable event was organized by PARD as a local partner for Association Najde to create a platform for dialogue on the inclusion of refugee women, particularly Palestinian and Syrian women, in Lebanon’s second NAP for UNSCR 1325. The first panel, moderated by Ms. Layal Abou-Dahish, allowed esteemed speakers, Dr. Aziza Khalidi (CRTDA) and Mr. Mohamad Younes (Moussawat) to address legal status, livelihood, and representation challenges of the Palestinian Refugee Woman in Lebanon.

📍 نظمت المبادرة النسوية الأورومتوسطية، بالتعاون مع مركز وسطاء التغيير للتنمية المستدامة ووحدات تمكين المرأة والشباب في بلديات محافظة عجلون المختلفة، جلسة حوارية يوم أمس الأربعاء، 1 تموز/يوليو، لمتابعة تنفيذ استراتيجية تمكين المرأة في رؤية التحديث الاقتصادي، بمشاركة 16 ممثلاً وممثلة عن وحدات التنمية المحلية، ووحدات تمكين المرأة والشباب في بلديات عجلون المختلفة، ومؤسسات المجتمع المدني، والجهات الحكومية المعنية بالمشاركة الاقتصادية للمرأة. 🤝

وشكلت الجلسة مساحة للحوار حول أبرز الإنجازات والتحديات، مع التأكيد على أهمية تطوير استراتيجيات محلية تنبثق من الاستراتيجية الوطنية، بما يعكس خصوصية كل محافظة واحتياجاتها، ويعزز الشراكات، ويوسع فرص وصول النساء إلى العمل والتمويل، ويسهم في تحقيق مشاركة اقتصادية أكثر شمولاً واستدامة. 📈💼

📍 EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI), in cooperation with Intermediaries Change Center and Women and Youth Empowerment Units across municipalities in Ajloun Governorate, convened a dialogue session yesterday, Wednesday, 1 July, to follow up on the implementation of the Engendered Strategy of the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV).

The session brought together 16 representatives from Local Development Units, Women and Youth Empowerment Units across Ajloun municipalities, government institutions, civil society organizations, and local associations to discuss progress, identify key challenges, and explore practical recommendations. 🗣️

Participants emphasized the importance of developing governorate-specific strategies aligned with the national framework, strengthening partnerships, improving women's access to employment and finance, and advancing inclusive and sustainable economic participation. 📈💼🤝

📍 من قلب مدينة الزرقاء، عقدت المبادرة النسوية الأورومتوسطية، بالتعاون مع وحدة تمكين المرأة وتكافؤ الفرص وذوي الإعاقة في بلدية الزرقاء الكبرى، جلسة حوارية لمتابعة التقدم المحرز في تنفيذ استراتيجية تمكين المرأة ضمن رؤية التحديث الاقتصادي. 🤝

وشكّل اللقاء مساحة للحوار وتبادل الخبرات بين ممثلات وممثلي مؤسسات المجتمع المدني، والنساء اللواتي يقدن مشاريع محلية، والجهات المحلية، بهدف استعراض الإنجازات، ومناقشة التحديات، وتوثيق الدروس المستفادة، وتعزيز الشراكات الداعمة للتمكين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي للمرأة في محافظة الزرقاء. 👩‍💼

📍 From the heart of Zarqa, EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI), in cooperation with the Women, Equal Opportunities, and Persons with Disabilities Unit at Greater Zarqa Municipality, convened a dialogue session to follow up on progress in implementing the Engendered Strategy for Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision. 🤝
The meeting brought together representatives of civil society organisations, women leading local initiatives, and local stakeholders to exchange experiences, review achievements, discuss challenges, and reflect on lessons learned, while strengthening partnerships that support women’s economic and social empowerment in Zarqa Governorate. 👩‍💼

This dialogue forms part of a series of consultations and follow-up meetings organised by EFI across Jordan to strengthen dialogue among local stakeholders, municipalities, Women’s Empowerment Units, and civil society organisations; monitor progress in implementing the Strategy; document good practices and lessons learned; identify local needs and priorities; and contribute to more inclusive and responsive policies and programmes that advance women’s economic empowerment. 🌱
