👀 A look back at Day 2 of our Spring Meeting in Rabat

In the morning, the Forum was honored to welcome the first official address of Philippe Lalliot as the new Ambassador of France to Morocco. His message captured the spirit of the day: turning major global disruptions into “concrete, realistic and adapted solutions” — and transforming hopes and ambitions into projects and action.

Hicham El Habti, President of UM6P, reminded participants why Rabat is such a meaningful place for this conversation: at the crossroads of Africa, Europe and the Arab world, a city where dialogue, exchange and interdependence are lived realities.

🌍 From there, discussions turned to Africa’s place in a turbulent geopolitical and economic landscape — and how just and resilient transitions can survive, and thrive, in a world shaped by fragmentation, competing priorities and weakening international rules.

👧 A key highlight was the session on the Children's Agenda ahead of the G7. Joined by Olympic swimmer and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Yusra Mardini, participants reaffirmed that children’s health, education, nutrition, protection and psychosocial development remain one of the most effective pathways toward a resilient future.

🌾 Food sovereignty was another major theme of the day. Leaders from the public and private sectors examined how stronger agricultural value chains, local fertilizer production and coordinated investment can help transform African food systems and reduce vulnerability to external shocks.

⚡ The conversation on transition minerals pushed the debate further: how can countries of the Global South be placed at the heart of responsible, resilient and sustainable mineral value chains — not only as producers, but as decision-makers and value creators?

📚 We closed the Spring meeting with a reminder that beyond geopolitical issues, cooperation also depends on culture and youth. As Rabat was elected as UNESCO World Book Capital 2026, participants explored how young people can help build the stories that will drive future transitions.

Two days. One shared ambition: building transitions that are not only fair — but resilient.

👀 A look back at Day 1 of our Spring Meeting in Rabat

Yesterday, the UM6P - Mohammed VI Polytechnic University Campus set the stage for the opening of two days dedicated to Resilient Transitions — and to turning dialogue into action.

📢 From the opening session to roundtables, one message stood out: in a world shaped by rising geopolitical tensions, shocks and uncertainty, resilience must be built, financed and delivered.

HE Leia Benali, Minister for Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Morocco, reminded participants in her opening keynote why this conversation matters here and now: “In Morocco, in Africa, we know a thing or two about resilience, and we know what transitions mean.”

➡Day 1 was above all designed as a true working day: alongside plenary sessions, participants moved into focused roundtables and working-group discussions on African agriculture, agrifood systems, nutrition, circular migration and responsible minerals value chains.

🌾Another key highlight of the day was the session "AgriConnect: Scaling Private Sector-led Development through Partnership and Capital Mobilization", bringing together the Bank Group , OCP AFRICA , InnovX , AGRA, , Grad P**a , Boston Consulting Group , Danone Ecosystem, SOWIT-TAKAMOUL, Enabel and IFC - International Finance Corporation to explore how to mobilize public and private capital for more scalable, country-led agricultural transformation.

The energy carried into the media room too, with strong interest from international and local press and plenty of questions on the initiatives shaping this year’s Spring Meeting: 🌱 ATLAS for African agrifood systems, 👱 the Child Priority Framework to invest in future generations, and the⚡ Global Council for Transition Minerals to support responsible energy transitions.

🍸And to close a busy first day: an evening gathering at the Four Seasons Rabat with French Ambassador Philippe Lalliot and Rabat Deputy Mayor for International Cooperation Rahima El Ouazzani Taibi.

Day 1 set the pace with hands-on working sessions. Day 2 will take the momentum further — with high-level conversations on geopolitics, children ahead of the G7, transition minerals, and the power of imaginaries.

🎬 Policy Work is back! Our video series spotlighting the policy initiatives at the heart of the Paris Peace Forum’s year-round work to address today’s most pressing global challenges.

📢 In this episode, Augustin, our Head of Development Initiatives, and Zarah, our Senior Policy Officer, introduce ATLAS - our Agricultural Transitions Lab for African Solutions.

🌾 ATLAS will be at the heart of our upcoming Spring Meeting in Rabat this week (June 4-5) — held under the theme “Resilient Transitions” — with several roundtables and sessions dedicated to food systems and agricultural transformation in Africa. Find out more about the Spring Meeting on our website.

➡️ About ATLAS:
Two years ago, we launched ATLAS, a North-South dialogue platform and multi-stakeholder coalition of 50+ organizations (governments, development banks, philanthropies, businesses, civil society & research institutes) all united around one goal: unlocking the full potential of African agriculture. Through a trusted space for dialogue, ATLAS works to align priorities, mobilize private investment alongside public funding, and ensure financial transparency. At the heart of our work? The 2x30 Challenge, a call to double investments in African agriculture by 2030. 🌱
