Fondation René Touraine - International Foundation for Dermatology The Fondation René Touraine is an International non-governmental, non-profit organization, founded in 1991.

To improve access to quality health care for patients suffering from skin diseases all over the world, the Fondation René Touraine supports continuing medical education in dermatology and fosters clinical and therapeutic research. Gathering dermatologists, researchers, patient associations, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries and Health autorities, the Fondation René Touraine is a dynamic and international framework oriented towards the needs of the patients.

This year's drawing contest brought together a community far bigger than we imagined. 65 drawings. 46 participants. From every corner of the world.

A heartfelt thank you to our jury, 24 people from medical and artistic backgrounds who gave their time over two weeks to choose this year's winners. Their commitment made all of this possible.

☀️ One mole can change everything. Check your skin.

This , the René Touraine Foundation reminds everyone of a simple message: skin cancer caught early is most often cured.

🎗 200,000 new skin cancers are diagnosed in France every year, one third of all cancers.
☀️ Around 80% are linked to UV exposure, which makes them largely preventable.

A few habits make the difference:
🔎 Watch your skin. A spot that changes shape, colour or size deserves attention.
🧴 Protect yourself from the sun, all year round, not only in summer.
🩺 Talk to a health professional as soon as something looks unusual.
Prevention saves lives. Let's give every suspicious mole the chance to be examined in time.

🌟 New leadership for the Scientific Committee of our network SPIN - Skin Inflammation & Psoriasis International Network

Indeed, the Scientific Committee is opening a new chapter with its new presidential trio for the next three years:
👏 Tiago Torres (Portugal) becomes President.
👏 Julia-Tatjana Maul (Switzerland) becomes President-Elect.
👏 Wolf-Henning Boehncke (Switzerland) becomes Past-President.

We wish this new trio every success for their mandate ahead and warmly thank Phyllis Spuls who has just left the presidential trio after 9 years of service for SPIN's development.

The René Touraine Foundation drawing contest closes on May 31st.

This year's theme, "My skin, my story", invites everyone to tell what their skin says about them. 🎨

Selected works will join the book celebrating eleven years of creations around rare skin diseases.
A small note: paintings are warmly encouraged over photographs.

Have you heard of HS Ireland?

Since its creation, HS Ireland has supported people living in Ireland with Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS), a chronic inflammatory skin disease, along with their families and loved ones.

Its work rests on four pillars: trusted information, peer support, public awareness, and patient representation in research and healthcare.

The research side deserves a closer look. The association has built a dedicated panel bringing together more than a century of combined lived experience of the disease. Several members are now co-authors of international scientific publications. Concrete proof that the patient voice moves science forward.

HS remains underdiagnosed and far too often overlooked. Organisations like HS Ireland are changing the daily lives of those affected, one step at a time.

📚 Major update on Therapeutics in Dermatology

Prurigo and pruritus are now covered by four enriched articles on Therapeutics in Dermatology.

Three chapters have been revised: actinic prurigo, strophulus prurigo and pruritus sine materia. A fourth one joins them. Chronic prurigo, previously absent from the database, now has its own dedicated chapter. 🆕

These revisions focus first and foremost on new drug-based management. Several treatments have obtained marketing authorisation for these conditions in France. 💊

✅ For actinic prurigo, the arrival of new drugs on the market reshapes how the disease is managed.

✅ For strophulus prurigo, a specific immunotherapy now exists in one particular case of sensitisation, when standard management fails.

✅ For pruritus sine materia, new therapeutic options address certain forms of pruritus, with drugs that have obtained marketing authorisation for these specific situations.
