⚡From June 14-16, the Erasmus+ project T1 Alert successfully conducted a training and capacity-building session in Nicosia, Cyprus.
🩸During the "T1Alert - Training and Capacity Building" activity, researchers presented the T1 Alert Resource Bank. Staff from all participating organizations, directly involved in future project activities, familiarized themselves with the resource bank's content and shared insights. This resource bank will be crucial for upcoming awareness-raising and overall dissemination activities in the next phase of the project.
✅MindSpin organized a demonstration training session at the University of Cyprus in Nicosia, allowing youth workers to observe practical testing of young people for Type 1 diabetes. Additionally, the partners gathered 25 young people to complete a self-evaluation form, marking the first step toward identifying Type 1 diabetes.
🤝Throughout the training session, youth workers gained practical experience in several key areas. They learned effective methods to engage and support young individuals with Type 1 diabetes, identified potential risks during local and international activities, and understood emergency interventions such as checking blood sugar levels and administering insulin. The training also covered developing safe activities, monitoring for warning signs of abnormal blood sugar levels, creating inclusive environments that encourage participation, and reducing the stigma associated with disclosing one's diabetes condition to peers.
💪 Τ1Alert is a joint effort from Sportopolis.it (IT) and MindSpin (CY) and is supported by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union!
🎯 T1 Alert aims to break down barriers to active participation for youth with Diabetes, addressing the European priority of promoting social inclusion. Sportopolis from Italy and MindSpin from Cyprus join forces in order to increase knowledge and interest in diabetes in their communities and on the European level.
