The International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO) supports initiatives for the organization of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) at the level of the basins of national or transboundary rivers, lakes or aquifers, by using the many experiences that can reconcile economic growth, social justice, protection of the environment and water resources and participation of the civil society.

Le Réseau International des Organismes de Bassin (RIOB) soutient les initiatives en faveur de l’organisation de la Gestion Intégrée des Ressources en Eau (GIRE) au niveau des bassins versants des fleuves, des lacs ou des aquifères nationaux ou transfrontaliers, en valorisant les nombreuses expériences qui permettent de concilier croissance économique, justice sociale, protection de l’environnement et des ressources en eau et participation de la Société Civile.

🗺️Pour la première fois, près de la moitié des 21 appariements sélectionnés dans le cadre du projet Peer-to-Peer (P2P) se sont rencontrés physiquement à l'occasion du Sommet Mondial des Bassins du RIOB (16-19 juin 2026), après des mois d'échanges à distance.

🤝Portée par le RIOB et le RAOB (Réseau Africain des Organismes de Bassin) avec le soutien financier de l’Union Européenne, cette initiative renforce la coopération concrète entre organismes de bassin à l'échelle internationale.

🗨️Enjeux partagés, actions engagées, diversité de contextes, premières leçons, etc. : les témoignages et discussions ont illustré la convergence des préoccupations exprimées : gouvernance, planification, mobilisation des financements, gestion des données, etc.

💻La plateforme collaborative du projet, « P2P Knowledge Hub », et ses premières fonctionnalités ont aussi été dévoilées ! Elle va progressivement accueillir les ressources produites dans le cadre du projet pour faciliter l’apprentissage entre pairs, comme les webinaires, modules pédagogiques, fiches méthodologiques, (etc.).

🗺️For the very first time, nearly half of the 21 partnerships selected as part of the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) project met in person at the INBO World Summit on River Basins (16–19 June 2026), following months of remote exchanges.

🤝Led by INBO and with financial support from the European Union, this initiative strengthens practical cooperation between basin organisations at an international level.

🗨️Shared challenges, actions undertaken, diverse contexts, initial lessons learnt, etc.: the testimonials and discussions highlighted the convergence of the concerns expressed, including governance, planning, mobilising funding and data management.

💻The project’s collaborative platform, the ‘P2P Knowledge Hub’, and its initial features were also unveiled! It will gradually host the resources produced as part of the project to facilitate peer-to-peer learning, such as webinars, training modules, methodological guides, etc.

At the closing of the 2026 World Basin Summit in Rio de Janeiro, the presidency of the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO) was officially transferred from France to Brazil.

In this video, H.E. Waldez Góes, Brazil's Minister of Integration and Regional Development and the new President of INBO, shares his priorities for the network: strengthening the monitoring of climate change impacts on water resources and fostering greater knowledge-sharing among basin organizations worldwide.
