Official Facebook account of the FIA Karting Championships The Karting fever quickly spread over the whole US territory before crossing the oceans.

When in August 1956 the Californian Art Ingels assembled a few tubes to create his first kart powered by an engine from a lawnmower, little did he imagine to what extent his invention would become a world craze. And the small vehicle rapidly became a sporting one. In front of the extent of the phenomenon, federal structures began to be created in order to regulate this activity, and in 1962 the FIA (International Automobile Federation) created the International Karting Commission (CIK), entrusted with developing, promoting, co-ordinating and regulating Karting-related activities throughout the world. Today, while international championships are a showcase for Manufacturers and candidates for professional Motor Sport careers, Karting is not limited to this top-level competition. It also permits the practice of motor racing at low cost in friendly, regional or national competitions. The majority of practising karters benefit from rent kart activities developed either on outdoor circuits or on indoor circuits, where the man in the street, young or old, can discover and be stirred by the real pleasure of basic or sporting driving. The role of the CIK is to intervene in each of these fields and have the participants benefit from its expertise and competences.
