Estonia will host the first Space for Resilience workshop, co-organised by EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme and Eurisy, together with Majandus- ja Kommunikatsiooniministeerium / Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications and Space Estonia on 27 October, bringing a regional perspective to the role of space in resilience, security and preparedness.

🌍 What happens when satellite data becomes actionable information?

We are now exploring how Lithuanian space-based services can support the disaster risk management cycle - from understanding risks before an event to supporting response and recovery.

🛰️ Pavel Ragozin from Kongsberg NanoAvionics is bringing the perspective of small satellites and their applications for disaster monitoring and preparedness.
🌊 Diana Vaiciute from Klaipeda University is highlighting how Earth observation can support aquatic pollution and maritime security monitoring.
🛰️ Žygimantas Saruolis from Hnit-Baltic is looking at how satellite data can contribute to shared situational awareness.

📡 From space to emergency response: the Galileo Emergency Warning Satellite Service in action

🛰️The live demonstration of the EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme Emergency Warning Satellite Service (EWSS) is showing how satellite information can help disaster managers make rapid, informed decisions on the ground.

🚨 Soon, via the constellation, EWSS will 📲 send alert messages directly to people in areas at risk from floods 🌊, wildfires 🔥, and other emergencies 📢 ensuring timely warnings reach those who need them most. And the alert will be received in the language of your phone (lithuanian here)!

The Satellite-based Services for Disaster Risk Management in Lithuania workshop is opening with a high-level policy introduction on the role of space and satellite-based services in strengthening disaster risk management.
