Buri Daikon — A Bowl of Warmth for the Early Winter Days

As the air turns crisp and the daylight fades a little earlier, we
begin to crave something warm and comforting.
Among winter dishes, buri daikon — simmered yellowtail and daikon
radish — feels like a quiet celebration of the season’s arrival.
Rich in omega-3s like DHA and EPA, the yellowtail nourishes the body
from within, while the daikon brings balance with its gentle sweetness
and digestive enzymes.
Together, they create not only harmony of flavor, but also a sense of
nourishment that feels perfectly suited to the colder months.
As the pot softly simmers, time seems to slow down.
In the rising steam, surrounded by the scent of soy and ginger, even
an ordinary evening becomes a tender moment of warmth.

ぶり大根 — 冬のはじまりに寄り添う一皿

空気が少し冷たくなってくると、恋しくなるのは湯気の立つ煮物。
なかでも「ぶり大根」は、冬の訪れを知らせてくれる定番のひとつです。
脂がのったぶりには、DHAやEPAといった良質な脂が豊富で、寒い季節の体をやさしく整えてくれます。
一方の大根は、消化を助ける酵素を含み、ぶりの旨味を引き立てる名脇役。
味だけでなく、栄養のバランスも理にかなった組み合わせです。
ことことと音を立てながら煮込む時間は、忙しい日常の中の小さな休符。
湯気に包まれたキッチンで、冬の匂いとともに心まで温まるようなひとときを。

On a recent trip to Paris, I stumbled upon a beautiful plate at a flea market — a romantic floral design, its maker unknown, yet full of charm and history.
It reminded me of the most wonderful pork rillettes I had at a little bakery tucked away in the 5th arrondissement. So, I tried to recreate it at home.
