💜 Families are at the heart of our societies. But families do not thrive on love alone—they run on care.

🌍 Globally, women perform 76% of unpaid care and domestic work - mostly carried out by mothers - while 708 million women remain outside the workforce due to unpaid care responsibilities.

Whatever their shape, size, or circumstance, families need support to thrive.

This International Day of Families, let’s remember that. Let’s recognise, redistribute, and value care work as essential work.

📊 In Europe, women still spend nearly 2 more hours every day on unpaid childcare and domestic work than men.

The consequences are real: mental overload, burnout, fewer professional opportunities and families under pressure.

We want to see concrete action and that is why we are supporting the Time Use Initiative - TUI and Local and Regional Time Network who are calling for:
đź”· equal care responsibilities
đź”· accessible care systems
đź”· more flexible and human-centered working time policies

Because care work keeps our societies running.

🔉 Programme annoncé : « Comment ça va, maman ? (vraiment) »

👉 Table ronde 1 : Pourquoi les mères sont-elles épuisées ?

👉 Table ronde 2 : Quelles réponses collectives ?

A woman’s mental health is most vulnerable in the first year after giving birth.

As approaches, it’s time to move beyond awareness—and take action to better support new and expectant mothers.

At Make Mothers Matter MMM - Make Mothers Matterwe are calling for maternal mental health to be fully integrated into maternity care.
