Each year on 22 March, highlights the importance of freshwater and the need for sustainable water management. The 2026 theme, β€œWater and Gender”, under the slogan β€œWhere water flows, equality grows”, underscores the deep interconnection between access to water and gender equality.

As a partner of UN-Water, WFEO has contributed to the United Nations World Water Development Report 2026, emphasizing the importance of gender-responsive engineering.

This contribution took the form of a short paper authored by Dawn Bonfield Mbe, Member of the WFEO Committee on Women in Engineering, and Lylian Coelho, Member of the WFEO Committee on Water. Their joint work reflects the value of cross-committee collaboration and highlights the importance aintegrating both water expertise and gender perspectives into engineering discussions and practice.
