HUMAN is a GoodPlanet Foundation movie, contact : [email protected] One day, in Mali, Yann Arthus-Bertrand was the victim of a helicopter breakdown. While waiting for the pilot, he spent the entire day in with a farmer who spoke to him, with great dignity and without complaint, of his daily life, his hopes, his fears and of his sole ambition: to feed his children.
Yann remains deeply marked by this encounter, this man to whom he felt so close. In a global world of non-stop information, we think we know the world and we feel strangely very close to the others, althought we often forget to listen or learn from them. Then, how can we hope to make our world and societies evolve if we don’t even know our neighbors? Why not let the voiceless speak, allow us to hear these anonymous men and women who share dreams and fears without ever being consciously aware of doing so?
‘Human’ aims to be a sensitive and loving portrait of who we are, as a community, a family but most importantly as individuals. This documentary film will be an introspection that will try to answer the universal and ancestral question of who we are and what we aspire to.
‘Human’ will show the dark side of mankind but will shed light on the best of it, for we all have inside of us this will to live together. This is the message that this film will try to convey. Together, united, we can meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.
