Bloomsday Paris Performers of texts and songs from James Joyce's work in such venues as the Irish Embassy, the Cent The Paris Bloomsday Group has three one-hour programmes:
1.

Joycean Highlights: Excerpts from "Dubliners", "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man", "Ulysses" and "Finnegans Wake"; Popular songs from Joyce's life and work; Poems and satirical verse by Joyce
It is a good introduction to Joyce and can be enjoyed by neophytes and Joyceans alike.

2: "Ulysses": an Odyssey. From “Stately plump Buck Mulligan…” to the final “yes” of Molly Bloom’s celebrated soli

loquy, the Paris Bloomsday Group presents excerpts from "Ulysses" interspersed with the Victorian parlour songs and music-hall ditties that are woven through the novel.

3. "Dubliners": a tribute. Prepared for the centenary of the publication of "Dubliners" in 2014. Selected readings, songs and poems from the stories, including a melodramatic "Death of Parnell" from “Ivy Day in the Committee Room”. Performances are in English with brief forays into French, Italian, Latin and Greek. One highight is a high-speed delivery of the start of Anna Livia Plurabelle(from Finnegans Wake) in English, Italian and French (using translations by Joyce himself or closely supervised by him). Lyrics of the songs can be provided for the audience to sing along.
