What a week in Paris for SO USA! After a week of hard-fought matches, the team finished strong, earning a spot in Division 3 and bringing home a silver medal. We couldn’t be prouder of their determination and teamwork on the field.

Beyond the results, the team embodied the spirit of inclusion, building friendships with athletes across the world.

Congratulations to our athletes, Unified partners, coaches and supporters on an incredible achievement!

SO USA left it all on the pitch in the first full day of Group Stage play. They competed in two hard fought matches against SO Guatemala and SO Azerbaijan showing teamwork and determination every second. Tomorrow, the excitement continues in Group Stage play with one game against SO Namibia. Let’s go, SO USA! ⚽️

We are excited to announce our co-captains for the Special Olympics Unified Football World Cup!

⚽ Katie is from Colorado and has competed with Special Olympics for eight years. She was selected as co-captain as she exemplifies the values and spirit of Special Olympics through her leadership, dedication and unwavering commitment to her teammates. She has earned the respect of her teammates and coaches through her positive attitude, strong communication and passion for representing Special Olympics USA on the world stage.

⚽ Safa is from Illinois and is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has participated in Special Olympics as a Unified partner in soccer for five years. Safa’s leadership experience includes roles as a former captain of her high school varsity team, club team and her high school Unified team. Through her experience and passion, Safa truly embraces what it means to be a Unified partner.

We are thrilled to have these ladies leading the team!
