Day 1 of TRANSEUROPA 🌍✊
Yesterday we opened the festival with a clear message: democracy is something we practise together across borders.
At a time when fear, exclusion and division are being used to shrink our public space, we choose the opposite: reclaiming the commons, reconnecting our struggles, and imagining futures we can shape together.
For Transeuropa, democracy starts with people having a real say in the places and societies they are part of. That means looking beyond borders and asking who gets to shape Europe and what common spaces we want to build together.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on the first day.
This is only the beginning.

We are approaching the start of this journey above the clouds. ☁️

The future is too often something described to us: forecast, modelled, administered by people we didn’t choose. This part of the festival takes it back into shared hands. It puts young people on stage as protagonists rather than audience, keeps the memory of movements alive in an archive, defends independent journalism as what keeps our common air clear and insists that no future is worth imagining if we can’t breathe in it. Reimagining is the least finished part of the festival and the most open, an invitation to bring what you know, remember what you’ve lived and help begin conversations that outlast these five days.
