WICE cultivates and strengthens relationships between Francophone and Anglophone communities in Paris Many members also become involved as volunteers.

WICE welcomes men and women of all ages to join one of our many courses, enjoy a walking tour or museum visit, and make friends along the way. Our doors are open to all, with our current membership made up of over 30 different nationalities, including: French, Australian, Canadian, American, British, Bulgarian, Japanese, Italian, Moroccan, Indian, Ugandan, and Venezuelan. evements over the past three decades have been:

* Developing the internationally known Paris Writers Workshop (20 years of existence);
* Co-hosting of Women on the Move, for geographically mobile women dealing with multiple professional re-locations;
* Creating several city-wide Money Matters for Women conferences;
* Publishing three editions of Paris Health Care Resources, a guide to the French health care system;
* Publishing of Upstairs at Duroc, an avant-garde literary magazine (10 years of existence)

What a wonderful way to end this year’s Paris Writers Workshop. From the remarkable Student Readings to the Closing Reception, we celebrated creativity, forged friendships, and inspired new writing. In the age of using AI material, adaptations, referencing real people and places, there are many legal traps that writers should know how to avoid. Judith Merians spoke about how to own everything you write and how to protect your writing and yourself by making certain you haven’t inadvertently used material that needed permission.

Literary agents Oliver Munson and Chris Wellbelove discussed what makes a manuscript stand out in today’s crowded market. Are writers better served by following their instincts or responding to current market trends? What defines an irresistible hook, the kinds of character voices or plot ideas that spark interest, and the extent to which a writer’s social media presence can influence a submission.
