Let’s have a conversation at the RISE UP venue with SSF leaders from Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia 🌊
This panel is a cross-regional political call to action bringing shared demands into the future of global ocean governance ahead of SSF Summit 2026, CBD COP17, COP31.
At the center is a powerful message: artisanal fisheries are key leaders in ocean conservation, climate resilience, biodiversity protection, and fair blue economy transitions.
Why does this matter?
⚓ Fishers speaking for themselves, not through intermediaries
🌍 Ocean Defenders from three continents and diverse coastal realities Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia, coming together around one shared agenda for the future of the ocean.
🐟 Territorial rights, co-management, climate justice, and accountability on ocean commitments at the center
💙 A blue economy shaped by communities, knowledge, culture, and relationships with the sea

🌊 The ocean covers more than 70% of our planet. But who is helping protect it?
The tide is carrying one shared demand across the shores: the people who sustain the ocean must be part of the decisions shaping its future.
💙 is also about Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities, and Small-Scale Fishers. Through their knowledge, practices, and stewardship, they have protected marine territories for generations.
🐟🌎 The future of the ocean must include the people who depend on it, know it, and help sustain it.

Seafood Expo Global wrapped up 🌊⚓

At one of the world’s biggest seafood gatherings, Indigenous Peoples from Chile brought conversations that rarely reach these spaces 🛶🌍

amplified demands and perspectives around certification, traceability, market access, and the role of communities in the future of seafood 📦🐟

Because real sustainability cannot be built only around markets and production. It starts in the territories where seafood begins and with the communities that protect the ocean, sustain local economies, and keep coastal life alive 🌱🌊🤝🏽

brought territories, knowledge, and community-led sustainability into the spaces shaping the future of seafood 🔥🪸✨
