The village of Ovillers la Boisselle over time
A Thousand years of shared history unite the village of Ovillers-la-Boisselle with the Basilica of Albert.
On the occasion of the COUNTRY HERITAGE DAYS, organized under the auspices of the "Ministère de la Culture’’, on the theme "architectural heritage" , we have organized a walk to celebrate the 1,000 years of history that unite Notre Dame de Brebières with the village of Ovillers-la-Boisselle.
Departure Saturday the 20th at 9 a.m. from Ovillers Church for an 8km walk: Visit Ovillers Church, passing through Nab Valley and Crucifix Corner
Chemin d'Authuille, the discovery trail: passing the discovery site and the location of an ancient sanctuary.
- Those who do not wish to walk can join us directly at the Basilica, where we should arrive around 11:30 a.m.
Those who would like to do only part of the walk can wait for us at “la Nymphe d’Aveluy” (Crucifix Corner) where we shall arrive at approximately 10:15 a.m.
At the Basilica of Albert (around 11:30 a.m.). Visit to Notre Dame de Brebières and tour of the Basilica in the presence of Mr. Raymond Levy, who will talk to us
about the architectur of the Basilica
- After the visit to the Basilica, return by carpool to Ovillers

-Those who wish can come to the site of the Ilot and share a picnic lunch after visiting the Basilica.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21th from 10am to 5pm
The ILOT DE LA BOISSELLE site, also known as "GLORY HOLE," will be open
Visit of an authentic World War I battlefield. Along a 300-metre stretch of front line, the damage caused by 110 mine explosions set off by engineers of the German, French and British armies in 1915 and 1916 is still visible.
The site will be open Saturday 20th from 2 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for self-guided tours
And Sunday 21th from 10am to 5pm
Saturday & Sunday Guided tours at 3:30 p.m.
