Founded in 2008, the Platform has a mandate to facilitate interaction on peacebuilding between different institutions and sectors, and to

advance new knowledge and understanding of peacebuilding issues and contexts. It also plays a creative role in building bridges between International Geneva, the United Nations peacebuilding architecture in New York, and peacebuilding activities in the field. The Platform's network comprises more than 2500 peacebuilding professionals and over 60 institutions working on peacebuilding directly or indirectly. As part of its 2012-2014 Programme, the Platform provides policy-relevant advice and services, ensures the continuous exchange of information through seminars, consultations, and conferences, and facilitates outcome-oriented peacebuilding dialogues in five focus areas.

🌿 The Geneva Peacebuilding Platform is delighted to participate in the Caux Arts and Peace Encounters 2026: Creation in a Time of Rupture, taking place from 10–13 May 2026 at the Caux Palace, Switzerland.

We are also pleased to continue our partnership with the Caux Initiatives of Change Foundation as part of the upcoming 2026, where we will host an event on Arts and Peace, building on conversations and collaborations initiated during the Arts and Peace Encounters at 2024 and 2025.

The Caux Arts and Peace Encounters bring together artists such as Karim Wasfi, peacebuilders, educators, and practitioners to explore the transformative power of creativity in peacebuilding. This year’s edition continues to deepen the conversation on how imagination, empathy, and artistic practice can help respond to conflict and rupture in our world today.

At a time when peacebuilding increasingly requires new ways of seeing and engaging, we are inspired by spaces like Caux that bring together diverse voices and disciplines — from diplomacy to the arts — to co-create more human, inclusive, and innovative approaches to peace.

We look forward to contributing to this vibrant gathering and to continuing to explore how arts and creativity can open new pathways for peace.

🌍 Join us for a discussion on Peace Work amid the Polycrisis: Reorienting the Field for the Challenges of Tomorrow, co-organized with the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding.

📅 12 May 2026 | ⏰ 12:30–14:00 (CET)
📍 Room S2, The Geneva Graduate Institute & Online

How do we build peace in a world shaped by overlapping crises?

As global challenges grow more complex and interconnected, the field of peacebuilding is being pushed to evolve. From post-Cold War dynamics to post-9/11 realities—and now to an era defined by polycrisis—what does effective peace work look like today, and what must it become tomorrow?

Join us for a thought-provoking discussion with Gearoid Millar, Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies at University of Aberdeen. Drawing on insights from 99 interviews with leading academics and practitioners, he will explore:
🔹 How the peacebuilding field is adapting (or struggling to adapt) to rising complexity
🔹 The growing concerns about its relevance and coherence
🔹 What transformations are needed to respond to today’s escalating crises
