New resource for youth workers and trainers: The Hateless.eu Toolkit

Young people today navigate complex digital environments where hate speech, racism, and disinformation are increasingly present. Supporting them requires practical tools, critical thinking skills, and opportunities for meaningful participation.

The Hateless.eu Toolkit for Youth Workers and Trainers was developed to support educators and youth professionals in addressing these challenges in a structured and engaging way.

The toolkit combines theory with practical activities and is built around six thematic modules that guide youth workers through participatory learning approaches:

• Module 1: Understanding participants, shared European values, and creating safe and inclusive learning spaces

• Module 2: Exploring how social media algorithms influence emotions and can contribute to radicalization

• Module 3: Research and exploration activities, including interviews, photo storytelling, and youth-led media creation

• Module 4: Foundations of participatory action, encouraging young people to raise their voices and engage in social change

• Module 5: A practical guide to creating participatory videos and digital storytelling projects

• Module 6: Reflection and evaluation tools that support critical discussion and learning
Through storytelling, media literacy exercises, and collaborative activities, the toolkit encourages young people to move beyond simply recognizing harmful narratives. Instead, they are supported in developing counter-narratives that promote inclusion and diversity.

For youth workers and educators, the toolkit offers practical guidance on facilitating discussions, supporting creative media projects, and building critical thinking skills in youth groups.
