LOGAN'S CHARITY CHOP
We love and appreciate novel fund-raisers by any of our supporters - they really are important to us - but when it's by a young person helping not only abandoned animals but also children not so lucky as him we think it deserves a VERY SPECIAL PUSH

Please pop your hand in your pocket if you possibly can and give this lad the joy of feeling good about his act of kindness.

🐾 It Takes a Village 🐾
There’s an old saying that it takes a village to raise a child.
Here at Les Amis, we believe it takes a village to save an animal too.
Every happy ending we share, every Winning Wednesday and Throwback Thursday celebration, every dog curled up on a sofa and every cat safely settled in their forever home is only possible because of an incredible network of people working together behind the scenes.
Today, we’d like to shine a light on those people…
Because every happy ending you see on this page is the result of an extraordinary team effort.
There are the administrators who quietly keep everything running smoothly, managing records, finances, regulations and the countless details that ensure Les Amis can continue its work.
There are the fundraising and auction teams who work tirelessly throughout the year, organising events, sourcing wonderful prizes and raising the vital funds that help us care for animals in need.
There are the social media volunteers who share stories, celebrate successes, write appeals and help shine a light on the animals still waiting for their chance.
There are the transport volunteers who give up their time to drive dogs and cats wherever they need to be. Their journeys are often carefully coordinated and sometimes completed at very short notice, all to help an animal reach safety.
There are the placement teams who work so hard to ensure every dog and cat finds the right home. They take the time to understand both the animals and the families interested in them because finding the right match matters.
There are our wonderful fosterers, some of whom open their homes at a moment’s notice to frightened, abandoned or vulnerable animals. Some provide short-term care, some long-term sanctuary, and some undertake the incredible task of hand-rearing tiny litters of puppies and kittens through sleepless nights and round-the-clock feeds.
There are also the trusted friends, rescuers, veterinarians and animal lovers we work alongside, people who never hesitate to answer the phone, offer advice, provide emergency help or step in when an animal urgently needs somewhere safe to go.
And then there are our adopters. The people who open their homes and hearts to animals who may have known hardship, loss or uncertainty, and show them what it means to be loved.
At the heart of all this is our President, Lynn, whose dedication, guidance and unwavering commitment help steer Les Amis every single day. Her passion for animal welfare inspires us all, and we are incredibly grateful for everything she does.
Finally, to our supporters, donors, fundraisers, auction participants and those who share our appeals far and wide: you are every bit as important as the people working directly within the association. Many of the animals we help would never find their forever homes without your support.
Rescue is never the work of one person.
It is a village of compassionate people, all working towards the same goal: giving dogs and cats in need the safe, happy and loving lives they deserve.
To every single person who plays a part in the Les Amis story, thank you. Every life we change is because of you.
Our village is built on kindness, compassion and generosity.
If you would like to help us continue rescuing, caring for and rehoming dogs and cats in need, please consider making a donation.
Every contribution, however small, helps us give vulnerable animals the safety, care and love they deserve.
We simply couldn’t do what we do without you. Thank you for being part of the Les Amis village. ❤️

Throwback Thursday

“Where are they now?”

Madeline

Normally when I write a story for Throwback Thursday it is to share a happy ending, but today I’m asking the supporters of Les Amis to help make it happen for gorgeous Maddie. Please!

Very pregnant at just a year old, she was found dumped in a garden. A plea for help and she came under the wings of Les Amis where, at her lovely foster home, she was able to have her babies, Louie, Ralph and Betsy, in comfort and safety.

The babies have grown and joined their forever families - and now it’s Maddie’s turn.

This gorgeous - and rare - ginger girl is desperately searching for her special family. Although she would prefer to be the only princess, in time she may accept other feline friends but absolutely not dogs.

If you are looking for a young cat, but don’t want the kitten stage, then Maddie may be for you. Like many cats on the younger side, she will need a little patience and time to settle in with her new family and new surroundings, but once ensconced she’ll love the love and you’ll love having her. A home - either as a foster or with a lifetime family - with a safe outside space would be ideal for her, but we would not discount apartment living where she can have the benefit of plenty of play and enrichment.

Maddie is currently in Department 87 (Haute Vienne) and, as usual, a wonderful home is more important than location.

If you love a beautiful ginger and are interested in Maddie then please:

🐾✨ Tiny Tinks – Small but Mighty ✨🐾
Some stories stay with you forever, and Tiny Tinks is one of them.

Back at the beginning of December, a litter of eight tiny puppies arrived into foster care. They were only around three weeks old, and despite their difficult start, everything seemed to be going well. They were feeding, growing, and doing all the things puppies should do.

Then everything changed.

Just three days later, on a Friday night of course, foster mum Ailichia noticed little Tinks lying in an unusual position, foaming at the mouth. Within moments, panic set in as the first seizure began.

A frantic rush to the emergency vet followed. Initially, there was hope that it might have been something simple, but on the journey home the seizures returned — violent, relentless, and one after another.

For the next 14 hours, Ailichia fought alongside this tiny puppy.
She held Tinks against her heart through every episode, comforting her through the confusion and fear. With each seizure becoming stronger and lasting longer, there were moments when the future looked heartbreakingly uncertain.

But Tiny Tinks had other ideas.

This tiny puppy showed everyone exactly what courage looks like.
Against all odds, she pulled through.

The veterinary professionals were amazed by her determination and resilience, and from that moment on, Tiny Tinks continued to prove just how much fight she had in her.
Her story then caught the hearts of Sally and her family. Even though nobody could promise what the future might hold, they opened their hearts to her and made a promise of their own — whatever came, they would face it together.
And just look at her now. ❤️

Healthy. Happy. Thriving.

As big as her littermates, as beautiful as ever, and living the wonderful life every rescue dog deserves.

And if you need any proof of just how far Tiny Tinks has come, Sally says it best:
“I don’t know how you breathed life into her, but she loves life and never stops bouncing. Everyone who meets her adores her. I have to search them when they leave!” 😂❤️
These days, Tiny Tinks spends her time doing what she does best — living life at full speed. Her favourite pastime? Chasing her frisbee… even if it’s already been thrown 49 times that morning! 🥏🐾
From a tiny puppy fighting through seizure after seizure, to a happy, mischievous girl stealing hearts wherever she goes, Tiny Tinks truly is the definition of thriving.
Thank you, Ailichia, for never giving up.

Thank you, Sally and family, for believing in her.

And thank you, Tiny Tinks, for showing us all that sometimes the tiniest fighters leave the biggest paw prints on our hearts. 🐾💕

Les Amis Des Animaux still have plenty of dogs and cats that need either their forever home or a fosterer. If you have space in you heart, or more importantly, on you couch or lap, please check our website https://lesamisdesanimaux.com/animals/

Throwback Thursday

“Where are they now?”

Squib, or Squibby as she is now known, came to fosterer Jane Snow from the SPA with whom Les Amis works, aged about three weeks and weighing just 80g. Very small and very underweight. She was not expected to survive the night as they couldn’t get her to feed.

As Jane recounts. “We have no idea what happened to her mum. She was my first bottle fed foster. I’m not gonna lie. She was a lot of work. She was quarantined because obviously she had all the bugs that they come with when they have been in the SPA. She took quite a few attempts to feed - perseverance paid off within a couple of days she had gained enough energy to actually start playing with a little ball. It was very sweet. She looked like a little alien, and she just came on leaps and bounds.

The same day we collected her. We also collected some five week old kittens - a tortoiseshell, a grey tabby and an all black. The tortoise shell and tabby got adopted quite quickly. They all black we called Sabrina and she and Squib became best of friends. Squib is and always will be sassy. Her new owners said that she’s a little rocket and wears them out. She makes a funny little chirping noise, particularly when she wants to come for a cuddle. We’re very proud of how she turned out and that she survived. Sabrina is now called Nina. She was a hit a miss as she went completely off her back legs. We had a couple of urgent appointments with her, but it appears it was just a bad bout of a gastrointestinal-type infection that she picked up from the SPA. She was like a mum to Squibb from the start, wrestling her to the floor to wash her. They became bonded. Both of them came in September and left us in February. They have been adopted together by fabulous family who send us regular updates and photos.”

Fostering can be difficult and sometimes heartbreaking but it is always rewarding to know that you helped save a life - a little animal who then goes on to be a happy, healthy and much-loved member of a family. If you feel that you could be one of our amazing team of fosterers, please take a look at our Foster and Adoptions page.

Last week we introduced 3 dogs that are currently staying at a pension in the Dordogne…..

For dogs like TORREN, PAN and PAYOLLE, Sharon is far more than a kennel owner… she is their safe place, their stability and, in many ways, their lifeline. ❤️

Without experienced people like Sharon, rescues like ours simply could not continue helping dogs with complex needs, long-term care requirements or failed adoptions.

These boys are safe. They are loved. They are understood. But that care comes at a very real cost.

Keeping just these three dogs in Sharon’s care costs our rescue €600 every single month — a huge ongoing commitment for a small rescue organisation.

And yet we would never compromise on their welfare.

TORREN needs the security and trust Sharon has patiently built over years.PAN needs experienced handling and safe management while waiting for the right home.PAYOLLE needed somewhere kind and knowledgeable to land when his adoption sadly broke down.

Sharon gives these dogs exactly what they need: safety, routine, understanding and genuine affection. Quite simply, we would be lost without her… and so would they. ❤️

If you would like to help us continue providing this vital care, please consider sponsoring one of our kennel boys. Every contribution, no matter how small, genuinely helps us keep dogs like these safe while we fight for the futures they deserve.
