Last week we introduced 3 dogs that are currently staying at a pension in the Dordogne…..

For dogs like TORREN, PAN and PAYOLLE, Sharon is far more than a kennel owner… she is their safe place, their stability and, in many ways, their lifeline. ❤️

Without experienced people like Sharon, rescues like ours simply could not continue helping dogs with complex needs, long-term care requirements or failed adoptions.

These boys are safe.They are loved.They are understood.But that care comes at a very real cost.

Keeping just these three dogs in Sharon’s care costs our rescue €600 every single month — a huge ongoing commitment for a small rescue organisation.

And yet we would never compromise on their welfare.

TORREN needs the security and trust Sharon has patiently built over years.PAN needs experienced handling and safe management while waiting for the right home.PAYOLLE needed somewhere kind and knowledgeable to land when his adoption sadly broke down.

Sharon gives these dogs exactly what they need: safety, routine, understanding and genuine affection. Quite simply, we would be lost without her… and so would they. ❤️

A Huge Push For Jessy 💛🐾

We have some wonderful news to share about our beautiful Jessy…

At her oncology appointment this morning, Jessy received her third dose of doxorubicin chemotherapy — and the results are incredibly encouraging.

✨ The tumour regrowth on her neck is now no longer detectable during examination.✨ Her lung nodule remains stable.✨ And most importantly… Jessy is doing really well.

She’s still enjoying her walks, her cuddles, her sofa time, and making sure nobody eats snacks without supervision.

If all continues to go well, Jessy may only need one final chemotherapy session to complete her treatment course. 💛

We honestly cannot thank everyone enough for the love, donations, shares and support you have given this very special girl and her mum Eva so far. Thanks to your incredible kindness, we have now raised an amazing €1,745 towards Jessy’s care.

Every kind word and every euro has helped ease some of the stress and worry Eva has been carrying while caring for her beloved girl.

Now we would love to ask for one final big push for Jessy.

Throwback Thursday

“Where are they now?”

Raffi, Rupert and Rose are celebrating their first birthday! I know exactly when they were born because I was there. Sadly their feral mum either abandoned her litters or took them off into the forest never to be seen again, so we made the difficult decision to remove them to safety. This was especially crucial for Rose who was cold, unresponsive and still attached to her placenta. Warm towels, vigorous rubbing and CPR - yes, CPR on something the size of a large mouse - worked miracles and she survived and hasthrived.

The point of this post is not just to celebrate these three gorgeous cats - I can’t call them kittens any longer - but to highlight the importance, the huge importance, of fostering. From neonates who need round-the-clock care, to pregnant mums and mums with young kittens who need a safe space and not forgetting our seniors. It can be hard work, and it’s not always 100% successful, but above all we have to congratulate ourselves that we tried and have made a huge difference in the lives of needy animals. We are not alone in this either. Les Amis have an amazing team of retired vets and experienced fosterers who are by your side (electronically) every step of the way. Their support - practical and emotional - is invaluable.

And so…it begins again with four neonates found abandoned in the barn. Again we decided that we had to remove them to safety. Sadly, just hours later we lost the little black and white girl, but the others are thriving.

Welcome Ash, Linden and Willow and Happy 1st Birthday “kittens”!

Ps. I know that many people will question why this feral has been allowed to have multiple litters. Sadly, for over two years we have tried every which method to trap her but, being partially sighted, she is extremely aware of movement, smells and sound. We will keep trying.

A Little Plea for Jessy 💛🐾

We know times are difficult for many people, and we are so grateful for every share, every kind word, and every donation Jessy has received so far.

Because of your generosity, we have raised €1,433 towards her treatment — an incredible help for Eva and her beautiful girl.

But we have gone a little quiet recently, and we are hoping our wonderful Les Amis family might help us give Jessy one more push towards her €2,000 target.

Jessy is doing well. Apart from needing a little anti-nausea injection a few days ago, she is back to enjoying the things she loves most — her walkies, her cuddles, and being close to Eva.

She continues to face everything with such gentle courage, while Eva continues to do everything possible to give her the care she deserves.

💛 We would so love to help ease some of Eva’s worries and reach this next milestone for them both.

Spring has definitely settled her skirts for the duration and the trees are showing off their finery. Candles are getting ready to bloom on the sweet chestnut and the flowers show off their gaudy baubles to their best advantage.

We also have some finery and baubles for your delectation as well as some great curios and gorgeous paintings. Our next auction runs the 28th/29th April so watch this space!

A Positive Update for Jessy 💛🐾

Jessy and Eva have just returned from their latest oncology appointment in Lausanne — and this time, they brought back some good news.

✨ The tumour regrowth on Jessy’s neck has significantly reduced in size over the past three weeks.
✨ The small nodule in her lung remains stable.
✨ And there are no new nodules visible on her latest X-rays.

For Jessy and Eva, this is incredibly encouraging.

Because of this progress, the decision has been made to continue treatment — but with a reduced chemotherapy dose, which should help minimise the side effects she experienced last time.

💛 The hope now is simple: to keep the cancer stable, while making sure Jessy stays as comfortable and happy as possible.

As always, her wellbeing comes first.

We also want to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Jessy so far. Thanks to your kindness, we have now raised €1,433 towards her care.

It truly means the world.
