On February 24, 2022, at 5 am Kyiv time Russia has escalated a full-scale war against Ukraine that has been ongoing since 2014. Before it was “covered” - today, masks have slipped.
Can you believe in this in 2022? We neither, but it is happening.
Major cities in Ukraine - Kharkiv, Odesa, Kyiv and other cities and villages woke up today because of the sounds of huge explosions. Russian forces attacked key infrastructure in major cities of Ukraine. Attacks are ongoing.
Our soldiers are fighting Russian military forces in Luhansk, Kharkiv, Odesa Kherson, Chernihiv, Sumy and now even the Kyiv region at the borders - basically in the East, North, South of Ukraine.
This is a Russian war against Ukraine. Ukraine preferred diplomatic path and peace. But under full-scale armed attack our state is defending itself according to Article 51 of the UN Charter. Ukraine announced martial law in all Ukrainian territory.
This war is far from being the first military involvement of the Russian regime in a sovereign neighboring country. The reaction of the international community to the war in Georgia (2008), the occupation of Crimea (2014) and the hybrid war in the East of Ukraine for the past 8 years wasn’t strong enough to stop future aggressions.
It is crucial that Western governments take the strictest possible measures now. The security of the entire world is at stake.
