🇦🇲 The Dance Project Hand in Hand in Munich by AGBU Lyon
The Hand in Hand project team, together with co-founders Mariam Aghalovyan (professional dance teacher) and Shushan Garanyan (communication specialist), and the AGBU Lyon chapter represented by its president Tatev Setrakyan, spent the weekend of November 8–9 in Munich.
🤩 It was a pleasure to be invited to take part in the fourth European Workshop of Armenian Folk Dance and Song.
🌏As members of the European Network of Armenian Folk Dances, we were happy to witness more than 350 participants from Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and other European countries - all united by their love for Armenian traditional dance and culture.
This year’s edition, titled “A Tribute to Resistance”, carried a particularly emotional meaning. November 9 marked five years since the 2020 ceasefire in Artsakh — a painful date for Armenians around the world. Through song and dance, we came together to remember, to celebrate resilience, and to carry forward our unbroken cultural heritage.
True to its mission, “Hand in Hand” continues to promote Armenian culture internationally through traditional dance - making it seen, known, and above all, experienced.
For Shushan and Mariam, this work is rooted in their long-standing connection to Armenian dance since childhood and reflects their commitment, as Armenians, to presenting and transmitting it internationally in a proper and accessible way.
♥️We extend our heartfelt thanks to Armenian Folk in Motion, Khoyak Folk Group, and all partner organizations and volunteers whose energy and dedication made this event possible. Our team leaves Munich enriched, inspired, and ready to keep dancing - together, hand in hand, in Lyon and beyond.
