Interreg Europe

Interreg Europe Interreg Europe brings regional and local governments together to share innovative and sustainable solutions to regional development challenges

INTERREG EUROPE- Emphasis on improving regional policies & programmes
The INTERREG EUROPE programme aims to improve the implementation of regional development policies and programmes, in particular programmes for Investment for Growth and Jobs and European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) programmes. By co-financing projects and a Policy Learning Platform it allows regional and local public authoriti

es and other players of regional relevance across Europe to exchange practices and ideas on the way public policies work, and thereby find solutions to improve their strategies for their own citizens. Six themes were selected in order to make the best use of limited funds: Smart, Green, Connected, Social, Citizens, or Governance.

🎧 Reminder: Episode 1 of our podcast When Europe cooperates is out now!

For this first episode, we head to Roeselare in Belgium 🇧🇪

There, a former post office has been turned into RSL Op post, a lively community hub where 35 organisations and 150 volunteers come together.

💬 The goal?
– bring people together
– fight loneliness
– create a shared space for local initiatives

🎙️ We met the people behind it to understand how it works and what other regions can learn from it.

In Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality, the hydrogen transition starts locally, not with mega-projects, but with real businesses and real needs.

From fishing vessels to agriculture, the municipality is mapping how hydrogen and PtX can work where electrification falls short, engaging local companies and building concrete value chains.

💡 The takeaway? Start with your ecosystem, not assumptions.

Cities are increasingly turning to temporary and tactical urbanism to experiment, activate spaces, and engage communities.

But how can these approaches be embedded into public policy?

On 9–10 June 2026, the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform invites you to join a hands-on workshop in Livorno.

Over two days, participants will explore how temporary use can become a strategic tool for integrated urban development, from governance and funding to long-term impact.

🔎 What to expect:
• A study visit to Hangar Creativi
• European perspectives and case studies
• Interactive sessions and peer exchange
• Optional participation in the IMPETUS Final Conference in Florence

⚠️ Registration closes on 2 June, and a few spots are still available.

This workshop is designed for representatives of Interreg Europe project partners, public authorities or non- profit organisations closely working with them, ensuring relevant and meaningful exchanges.

What started as a small summer camp in Saulkrasti turned into something much bigger.

Bringing together Ukrainian and local children, this initiative created a space for connection, friendship and healing through games, cooking, cultural activities and shared experiences.

Despite initial language barriers, something simple happened: kids connected.
They played, learned, laughed, and built a sense of belonging together.

This small initiative is now shaping the municipality's approach to inclusion, proving that even modest actions can lead to lasting change.

🌱 Because inclusion isn’t just policy, it’s something you experience.
