Providing warm clothes for the homeless in Lille during the winter. A solidarity project by students of IAE Lille.

My name is Thomas Baselmans. I am an exchange student currently studying international management at IAE in Lille. One of the first things I noticed when I arrived in Lille was beside the beautiful city Lille also knew a lot of people who were living on the street. Every week since I have arrived I’ve been giving money to people who were homeless. There was only one problem, I didn’t know if the money I gave would be used for good purposes. However, I do believe that there are other ways of helping the homeless. By naming one thing, buying mittens and scarfs for those in need. This is especially important during these cold winter months to make sure that people in need also feel warm. I hope that by starting this fundraiser we can make some extra people happy this Christmas.

My name is Ula, a student from The Netherlands.
Since I was a little girl, I was so thoughtful of the people in my surroundings. I tried to help them and support them with the little capinilities I had. Now i am an adult and I can do more, and I will do more. It breaks my heart to pass by the metro station, and see men and women, sleeping next to the door and their only blanket is wet because of the rain!

My name is Ali Muradov. Homelessness is a global human tragedy. But if we work together, we can make the world a better place for everyone. No matter how small the effort is, it can make a difference. You don’t have to be a billionaire to inspire change. We can all help end homelessness in our own little ways. This is the main reason that I am in this project. Come and join us, we will do better together!

From all the collected money we will buy scrafs, mittens and caps for the homeless. These goods will be donated to our partner, the organisation: Lile de Solidarite. This organization works with the homeless and refugees. Apolitical and non-denominational, it is open to all without cultural, generational or social distinction. Their main actions are social patrols providing food and clothing assistance and orientation on the different shelter and housing systems.
With a large number of volunteers, it develops social links with people on the street to work on their self-esteem and involve them in inclusion projects, whether in sport, culture or integration.
The Island of Solidarity, made up only of volunteers, has found its place with the authorities and today forms part of the governing councils of the Samu Social and the Federation of Actors of Solidarity.
In order to remain faithful to its human values, they are counting heavily on you to help them continue our fight.

We students from IAE Lille are working on a solidarity challenge. Since Lille knows many homeless people we want to help them during these cold months. For every collected euro we will buy mittens, scarfs and caps to make sure everyone can feel warm during the winter, also the people who can not afford these essentials themselves.
