Racing To Relate

Racing To Relate Industry-leading charity sharing international evidence-based research focused on Thoroughbreds in Equine Assisted Services

🐎🏇A landmark event for the future of equine-assisted services.

On March 19th, the prestigious Haras National du Pin in Normandy hosted the 5th Équi-Meeting Equine Mediation — France’s leading conference dedicated to the powerful role of horses, donkeys, ponies and mules in therapeutic and educational settings.

Bringing together researchers, clinicians, practitioners and students, the event explored innovation, welfare, science and best practice in equine-assisted work.

A highlight was the workshop on selecting the right equine partner — from herd dynamics to personalised horse-recipient pairing — featuring pioneering tools and insights from Claire Neveux of Racing to Relate and Dr Catherine Padovan, creator of the OREZA framework.

This is where welfare, evidence-based practice and the future of human-equine connection meet.

The sun’s out and the grass is growing and so April feels like a great time to share some of the international work we’ve been up to behind the scenes at Racing to Relate.

We’ve been investing our time and energy into supporting some really exciting research and some wonderful international industry collaborations.

The work we do at Racing to Relate, as an international team, means we can contribute meaningfully to the evidence base around the welfare of Thoroughbreds - and their people - involved in the Equine Assisted sector.

We’ve been listening to and learning from global leaders and making sure that what we offer is grounded in both ethics and impact. We are proud to be part of many important international conversations around Thoroughbred aftercare, equine-assisted practice, and horse welfare — and proud that our work is being shaped by the people and horses at the heart of it all. Follow along for what we’ve been up to and feel free to get in touch or visit our website www.racingtorelate.org

🌍 Invitation to Host the 2030 HETI International Congress🌍

The Federation of Horses in Education and Therapy International (HETI) is inviting Large and Federation Member organisations to express their interest in hosting the 2030 HETI International Congress.

For more than 50 years, HETI has brought together organisations and professionals dedicated to Equine Assisted Services (EAS) - promoting global collaboration, research, education, and best practice across the sector.

Held every three years, the HETI International Congress is a flagship global event that connects practitioners, researchers, educators, and organisations working with horses in education, therapy, and wellbeing. The congress provides a platform to share knowledge, showcase innovation, and strengthen international partnerships across the field.

With the next congress taking place in Oslo, Norway in 2027, planning is now beginning for 2030.

Hosting the Congress is a unique opportunity to:
• Showcase your country and organisation on a global stage
• Bring the international EAS community together
• Highlight research, practice, and innovation in equine-assisted services
• Strengthen collaboration and networking across continents

We warmly encourage HETI Organisation and Federation Member organisations to consider submitting an expression of interest to host this prestigious event.

This is a strong article to share with reentry programs, correctional partners, nonprofit organizations, and funders interested in trauma-informed rehabilitation.

It explains both the need and the opportunity: why justice-involved individuals may need a different therapeutic pathway, and how the Eagala Model can support trust, accountability, regulation, and reintegration. Please credit Eagala and include the original link when sharing. Find the post here: https://tinyurl.com/3wurhhk5
