IBSA Bodysurfing World Tour QS for Australia/Asia

Event 3: Queensland Quest

Wet, wild, and absolutely worth it — Event 3 of the IBSA Bodysurfing World Tour Qualifying Series hit the Gold Coast this September, and the ocean did not hold back. Twenty-four competitors paddled out into solid 4–5 foot waves for a proper wet-and-woolly Sunday, and what they served up was some of the sharpest, most technical bodysurfing of the season so far.

🌊🏆 IBSA BODYSURFING WORLD TOUR FINALS 2026 – OPEN WOMEN FINAL RANKINGS!

An incredible conclusion to the Women’s competition in Anglet, with a thrilling final and an outstanding international field!

🔥 A CLOSELY CONTESTED WORLD FINAL!

France’s 🇫🇷 Uhaina Hegoas claimed the world title with 8.66 points, narrowly defeating 🇺🇸 Coral McIntyre (8.33) in a final decided by just 0.33 points!

🇺🇸 Michelle Urkov (6.23) secured third place, while 🇺🇸 Meredith Rose (5.97) completed the podium’s top four.

🌍 A STRONG INTERNATIONAL FIELD

The final rankings highlight the impressive strength of American women’s bodysurfing, with three US athletes in the final and five in the top 12.

🇺🇸 Scotti Shafer and 🇺🇸 Delori Gomes, representing Hawaii, shared fifth place, confirming the strength of North American and Hawaiian bodysurfing.

🇫🇷 France also delivered a strong collective performance, with Ambre Gautier and Nina Declercq sharing seventh place, alongside newly crowned World Champion Uhaina Hegoas.

🇦🇺 Australia was represented by Lyla Crouch and P**i Cathcart, both finishing ninth, while 🇧🇷 B. L. Wiedemeyer secured a top-12 finish for Brazil.

For the fourth consecutive year, the French leg of the Euro Bodysurf Tour will be part of the IBSA Bodysurfing World Tour Qualifying Series, offering athletes another opportunity to earn valuable ranking points on the road to the 2027 World Finals!

🌊 IBSA BODYSURFING WORLD TOUR FINALS 2026 – OPEN MEN FINAL DAY 🏆

After several lay days waiting for the right window, Anglet delivered great conditions for the final day of the 2026 IBSA Bodysurfing World Tour Finals.

At Plage du Club, a solid northwest swell of around 1.5 m at nearly 12 seconds, combined with light offshore winds early in the day, provided clean and powerful waves for the 12 Open Men still in contention for the World Title. Conditions gradually became more challenging as the wind shifted during the day.

🔥 QUARTERFINALS

The four quarterfinal heats were won by:

🇫🇷 Niels Schorsch – 12.00 pts
🇫🇷 Noah Elan – 12.37 pts
🇧🇷 Caio Calixto – 13.77 pts
🇲🇦 Mohamed Chouaib Boudhim – 11.26 pts

🔥 SEMIFINALS

In the first semifinal, 🇦🇺 Chris Anderson stepped up with an impressive 14.27 pts, ahead of 🇫🇷 Niels Schorsch (13.17), Nathan Lehoux and Caio Calixto.

In the second semifinal, 🇫🇷 Ruben Cambas (8.60) took the win ahead of 🇵🇹 Mauricio Afonso (7.30), Mohamed Chouaib Boudhim and Noah Elan.

🔥 Niels Schorsch saved his best performance for the World Final. Taking full advantage of the waves at Plage du Club, he posted an outstanding 16.16-point heat total — the highest of the entire final day — to claim the 2026 IBSA Bodysurfing World Title in Anglet.

A fantastic conclusion to a competition held within a 10-day waiting period, designed to select the best possible conditions and showcase world-class bodysurfing.

👏 Congratulations to Niels, Ruben, Chris and Mauricio, and to all the Open Men competitors who made these World Tour Finals such an outstanding international competition.
