Siyanda Hewitt is a South African surfer who was born in Durban and grew up surfing at The New Pier.
He started surfing very young. Although he competed on occasions through out his child hood his focus was always more on freesurfing. He became known for power and style in his surfing. He has spent time surfing in San Clemente, USA (Trestles), Indo, Mozambique, Japan, The Maldives and obviously South Africa where he focuses on his home break New Pier, JBay and the KZN South Coast.
Siyanda became serious about competing at the age of 17 (2024).
In 2025, aged 18, he came 9th (quarter finals) in the adult mens SA Champs in Port Alfred, he also came 9th (quarters) in the SA junior Champs in JBay. Based on his performances he was selected for the SA National surfing team for ISA World Junior Champs in Peru. He is now a Springbok (National team) surfer.
Siyanda has grown up around the children of Surfers Not Street Children (Smile Wave partner) and is actively engaged in the organisation. He is proud to be an ambassador for Smile Wave.
