Gabe Davies dives into the reality of safety in big wave surfing, from impact vests and risk management to the importance of proper training before charging big waves.

He explains why surfers must first complete the Big Wave Risk Assessment Group (BWRAG), a safety program that goes far beyond big wave surfing, and applies to conditions ranging from under one meter to six meters.
