Twelfth Night (6th January) marks the end of the Christmas season.
🇫🇷 In France, families and friends share the famous Galette des Rois – a flaky puff-pastry cake filled with almond frangipane. Hidden inside is a small charm (the fève), and whoever finds it is crowned king or queen for the day 👑
🇧🇪 In Belgium, Twelfth Night is also all about cake! Many people enjoy a similar Kings’ Cake, while in some areas children dress as the Three Kings and go from door to door singing for treats or small coins.
🇩🇪 In Germany, the day is known as Heilige Drei Könige (Holy Three Kings). Children called Sternsinger dress as kings, sing carols, and collect money for charity, while chalk markings are often placed above doors to bless the home for the year ahead.
Different traditions, same spirit – sharing food, community, and a little bit of magic ✨
