Balkan Weekend Recap!

After a long preparation, a lot of work, and many emails sent, the Balkan Weekend has come to an end.

We would like to thank Arnaud Danjean and Srđan Golubović for their participation, and all of you for attending the organised events.
We hope that Arnaud Danjean’s profound ethno-political analysis of the Yugoslav wars and their consequences on Balkan politics and mentalities helped deepen your understanding of the region.
The screening of Srđan Golubović’s film Krugovi (Circles) offered an artistic representation of the same events, carrying a strong message of a quest for catharsis more than 20 years after the Dayton Peace Agreement.

We were also delighted to welcome members of the local Dijon community and to contribute to raising awareness about the historical and current situation of the Balkans.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Dijon Métropole for its support and contribution to this event, without which it would not have been possible.

Thank you once again for being part of this weekend, and we hope to see you soon at our next events.

The BBE is inviting you to participate to a major cultural event - THE BALKAN WEEKEND, taking place on the 20th and 21st of February!

The organised events are a great opportunity to dive into the complex past (and present) of this part of Europe, combining a cultural and political approach in dialogue with experts of and from this region.

On the program :
On the 20th February (Friday) - An exclusive visit fromArnaud Danjean, a former DGSE officer, former member of the European Parliament and former president of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs as well as a recognised expert on Balkan affairs and security. His carrer was marked by a -the-ground work in Bosnia and Herzegovina during and after the Yugoslav wars and later in relation with the Kosovo war, following both peace processes and regional tensions closely. A key opportunity to exchange, enrich your knowledge and satisfy your curiosity about the Balkans.

On the 21st of February (Saturday) - The film screening of Krugovi (Circles), winner of Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013, with the participation of its director flying all the way from Belgrade - Srđan Golubović. A powerful film about the Bosnian War, depicting the violence, traumas, fear together with the profound impact of the bloody conflict on ordinary civilians.
