UNIQUE BURNISHED SMOKE FIRING CERAMICS
All my objects are thrown at the pottery wheel using stoneware
with porcelain clay. I research pure and clean forms, with elegantly simple harmonich shapes.
All the pieces are burnishing with smooth stones and then firing in an electric oven at a temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius.
The second firing takes place in a pit or inside specific containers (saggar) together with wood, sawdust, hay, herbs, oxides, and other natural materials, reaching a temperature of 900 - 1000 Celsius
This is smoke firing, the oldest ceramic firing , a primitive technique that is reinterpreted in an artistic key.
The movement of the flames, the heat and the fumes that develop create unrepeatable and sophisticated shades and colors on the surface of each vase.
The smoke firing technique developed in recent years has allowed me to combine the rigor of the forged forms with the uncontrollability power of the action of fire. I like to define my vases as " fire painting" with a unique character.
