Did I spend my day off of work reading about French Army food procurement? You bet I did!

I am amazed by how legalistic and contract-like the manuals for production of both canned meat and bread are. In the canned meat booklet, we are treated to around 30 pages of legal conditions (cancellation policy, delivery schedules, fine structure, factory sanitary conditions) before we even get to the meat!

Of course, when you have the sanitary issues present in canned food, this may make sense.

I won’t bore everyone with the technical details, like the percentages of fat allowed in a can (

While this group was primarily granted to try to get 1940 French reenacting in the US up to speed with our friends in Europe, our Francophilia cannot be contained to simply one era in time.

While we also do Indochina and have done so for many years, Algeria was the one gap in both our knowledge and public perception that we wanted to fill.

I started working on the authenticity guide in 2021, and after some delays due to 1940 taking precedence for our event in May, we were finally able to use the kit at the Lockport event last weekend, where it was warmly received and spurred a lot of interested discussion with the public.

The 152nd was in Algeria from 1955 to the end of the war, and was involved in the fighting in the deep desert along the Algeria-Tunisia border. We are portraying the regiment as it would have looked during the Battle of the borders in 1958.

Big thanks to all the groups in France who inspired us and were valuable sources of information

The 152 was honored to co-host reenactors from across the US at Fall Gelb: The Invasion of France (1940) . We were able to field a complete squad, 11 well dressed and equipped French 1940 reenactors. This was more than we ever thought we'd get for a first event at a new site.

A big thank you to everyone who drove many hours to get to get there, we had three guys who traveled over ten hours, from Texas, Rhode Island, and Ohio. I also want to thank Tom George Davison for photographing the event and providing many of the shots here.

I hope this shows that we can maintain a high standard of authenticity in gear, and still bring people to the event. French is not an easy kit to assemble, especially now with tariffs doubling uniform prices, but it is not impossible!

The civilian side of the event for me was the real treat. Thank you to those who made the town feel lived-in, and who gave the boche endless headaches and sent them on goose hunts for buried treasure.

Start getting you gear together now, I feel that we'll be doing this again next year.

Members of the 152 also participate in WWI reenactments, from public displays on the Midwest to the great tactical in Newville, Pennsylvania.

We jokingly call the French soldier of 1940 the "brown poilu", but once you see the two eras side by side, we think the title is apt.

While at Newville, we were able to acquire a tool that will be put to good use at Fall Gelb: The Invasion of France (1940) in about two weeks. There is still time to register! It's really shaping up to be a great event.

Some cool shots, recreating a brief moment of interaction between Soviet and French forces in WWII. As many of the 152nd's members are also Soviet reenactors, we love to see it!

Our friends in the 92e are hosting their annual event again in Pennsylvania. For those who can't make our event in IL a week later, this may be closer to you. If you're 𝓇𝑒𝒶𝓁𝓁𝓎 hardcore, you could do both!

Dreaming of a Narvik event? The canadienne style of jacket was very popular with the officer corp going into 1940, despite being originally planned for observers on the Maginot.

While while we hope that our Fall Gelb: The Invasion of France (1940) event in May is warm, rest easy knowing that your officers will be nice and toasty if it is not

Highly recommend this product! Will finally get to test it in the cold in a few weeks.

Maybe one more Adrian, as a treat.

A gorgeous size D M26 with most of the original paint. Just have to find my extra badge and it is all set to go as a loaner for Fall Gelb: The Invasion of France (1940) (which you should attend!).
