Les Plages du Débarquement inscrites au Patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO
Il est des lieux qui dépassent les frontières, les générations et le temps.
Aujourd’hui, les Plages du Débarquement de Normandie sont officiellement inscrites au Patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO.
Cette inscription est bien plus qu’une reconnaissance historique : elle constitue un hommage universel et éternel à tous ceux qui ont traversé la Manche pour venir libérer l’Europe, souvent au prix de leur propre vie.
Le 6 juin 1944, des milliers de jeunes hommes venus des États-Unis, du Royaume-Uni, du Canada, de la France Libre et de nombreuses autres nations alliées ont débarqué sur ces rivages avec un même idéal : rendre la liberté à tout un continent.
Aujourd’hui, ces plages deviennent un patrimoine de l’humanité tout entière. Elles incarnent les valeurs de liberté, de paix, de courage et de démocratie, et rappelleront à jamais le prix payé pour notre liberté.
Cette reconnaissance garantit que leur histoire continuera d’être transmise aux générations futures, afin que le courage, le sacrifice et l’engagement de celles et ceux qui ont combattu ici ne soient jamais oubliés.

The D-Day Landing Beaches are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Some places transcend borders, generations, and time itself.
Today, the D-Day Landing Beaches of Normandy have officially been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
This inscription is far more than a historical recognition, it is a universal and everlasting tribute to all those who crossed the English Channel to help liberate Europe, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice.
On June 6, 1944, thousands of young soldiers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Free French Forces, and many other Allied nations landed on these shores united by one purpose: to restore freedom to an entire continent.
Today, these beaches become part of humanity’s shared heritage. They stand as enduring symbols of freedom, peace, courage, and democracy, forever reminding the world of the price paid for our liberty.
