Welcome to the International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS!

This year, we are celebrating our 30th anniversary. Just a few days ago, we opened the festival with a powerful kick-off - not only with screenings and performances, but also with an exhibition reflecting our history and roots.

As the first short film festival in the Baltics, 2ANNAS brings together film enthusiasts, professionals, and both emerging and experienced creators. Over six days, we travel through competitions, focus programmes, and a variety of events - creating a space for discovery, dialogue, and shared cinematic experiences.

Hi everyone, welcome to day 3 of the T-Port Takeover of the SFC Instagram account!

A huge thankyou to SFC for the opportunity to take over their Instagram! We hope you could all get something out of it.

Today we wanted to share a bit about our beloved filmmaker blog, the T-Blog and the creative people who are part of it.

The T-Blog is where we love to highlight the filmmakers, professional partners, and films that are the backbone of what we do.

A few recent highlights include:

A chat with Rotter, the filmmaker behind a 2025 Lighthouse-selected film, who shares about her upbringing in an ultra-orthodox community, who talks about having not watched a film until she was 18 years old.

We try to interview all of the filmmakers who films are part of our annual Lighthouse Selections, our curated list of T-Port shorts picked annually by prestigious guest curators.

An interview with the Oscar-nominated filmmaker Meyer Levinson-Blount (BUTCHER’S STAIN) who talks about what it felt like to find out about the nomination.

A catch up interview with veteran experimental animator Betina Kuntzsch, whose film was part of our 2025 Lighthouse Selections. She talks about her long career as an animator and her approach to filmmaking.

Interviews with filmmakers who took part in this year’s Script Pool Tallinn, Christofer Nilsson and Teresa Väli, about their upcoming productions as well as highlighting previous films on T-Port.

If you’d like to read the T-Blog, or sign up to our filmmaker newsletter, visit the link in our bio.

🏆 THE FLOWERS STAND SILENTLY, WITNESSING wins SFC’s Short of the Year 2025 💥

After polling its diverse membership of festivals, distributors, journalists and other industries associated with the short film world, the Short Film Conference has announced that the winner of the SHORT OF THE YEAR 2025 is "The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing" by Theo Panagopoulos (UK, 2024).

The Short Of The Year 2025 award is sponsored by Figari International Short Film Fest 🙏

"The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing" sees Panagopoulos, based in Scotland, unearth a rarely-seen Scottish film archive of Palestinian wild flowers. He decides to reclaim the footage. Directors Notes say of the film “Panagopoulos, through his observations, long debates on editing and eventual discovery of his own narrative arch, has repurposed these films to reclaim a history that, as we sit here, is being systematically obliterated.”

Theo Panagopoulos has prepared a video greeting 👇

Hilke Doering
1966-2025

With deep sorrow Short Film Conference remembers Hilke Doering, a cherished voice and valued member of the short film industry.

As part of the programming team of Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Hilke championed filmmakers from across the world, bringing voices from Latin America, Africa, and the global experimental scene into the spotlight.

Beloved by colleagues for her humour, generosity, and clarity of vision, Hilke’s influence extended far beyond Oberhausen – she played an essential role in festival politics and networks, serving as a board member of the European Coordination of Film Festivals (1996 – 2000), presiding over the International Short Film Conference (1998 – 2003), being one of the driving forces behind the European Short Film Network (ESFN), amongst other things.

The short film world mourns a passionate advocate whose legacy will continue to inspire both filmmakers and audiences for years to come.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends. 🕊️
