The network consists of 100+ members representing over 40 countries all over the globe. We ask for a yearly fee of €60,-. Apply via our website.

Short Film Conference has been in existence since 1970 as a non-profit association and the only international organisation seeking to unite the global short film community. Its activities range from organising industry events and the annual Short Film Conference to monitoring and researching the industry, informing its professionals & lobbying for the rights of short films and their creators. Institutions, distributors, festivals, film markets, media outlets, VOD platforms & agencies are welcome to join the network.

From the youngest audiences at Shorty Shorts to actors and directors meeting one-to-one at Actors x Directors Speed Dating, and Beirut Shorts x ISFFC on the Rialto stage, the parallel events of ISFFC 2026 welcomed audiences of every age and every role.

ISFFC is not just about the screenings. It is a whole world that offers opportunities to meet, connect, learn and create.

A look back at the first days of the festival.

Photos 1–3: At Actors x Directors Speed Dating, actors and directors sat down face to face for short one-to-one meetings, opening the door to future collaborations.

Photos 4–5: The Shoot & Run participants gathered to meet, share ideas and get ready for the challenge ahead.

Photos 6–8: The Shoot & Run films reached the big screen, as the participants watched their work alongside the festival audience.

Photo 9: Smiling faces arrived at the Rialto Theatre, ready for another evening of short films.

Photo 10: The festival brought warm hugs, as old friends reunited and new friendships began in the foyer.

💥 BIEFF.16 just came to end! Here are some snapshots from the 16th edition: 8 days of meetings & discussions with experimental shorts filmmakers, special short programmes developed by emerging curators, industry meetings, panels, a masterclass held by Erika Balsom and a one of a kind walking cinema created by German collective A Wall is a Screen!

✨ We are very grateful for all the filmmakers and professionals who accepted to be a part of our festival - our guests, our jury, as well as our audience. We can’t wait to do it all together again next year!

We already told you about the awards that are presented to the best short films in the competitions »Kids« and »Teens« – but who decides which film wins in each section? 🏆

One trademark of LUCAS are its juries that are composed of equal numbers of young film fans and adult professionals. Together, they watch and discuss all entries of their sections and decide on the winning movies.

LUCAS – Internationales Festival für junge Filmfans

In recent years, LUCAS has earned a special reputation for its short film competition. From the best international submissions with a running time of up to 30 minutes, a selection committee puts together programs for the competition »Kids« and »Teens«, many of which are German premieres 🎥

Every year in spring, LUCAS will post a call for submission on its website and social media channels.

In their respective sections, the selected short films will compete for the Award for the Best Short Film, which comes with a cash prize of 2,000 euros. Submitted films should appeal to young film lovers.

During the festival, LUCAS welcomes filmmakers from all over the world to present their works either in person or online to the young audience – just as the crew of MY SISTER’S SANDAL did today, as shown in the pictures here 💬🎤

Lights, camera, action for LUCAS! 🎬🍿

We’re very excited to be able to take you along for the first three days of our festival. Many thanks to our colleagues at Short Film Conference for having us! 💕

LUCAS – International Festival for Young Film Lovers is organized by DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum (DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum) and Germany’s oldest film festival for young audiences. Every year we present award-worthy cinema for everyone from age three to 18 and above.

Yesterday we celebrated the grand opening of our 49th festival edition which will take place through October 1 in Frankfurt, Offenbach, Wiesbaden and, for the first time ever, in Bad Homburg.

At the heart of LUCAS are the competitions in the sections »Kids«, »Teens« and »Youngsters«, in which the festival showcases a selection of outstanding international feature films, documentaries, animated films, and experimental films. In 2026, a total of 19 feature-length films and 21 short films will compete for the nine coveted LUCAS awards with a total worth of € 21,000.

In addition, the festival presents numerous other programmes, some of them created by children and young people themselves. Throughout the festival week, special emphasis is placed on film talks, where filmmakers from around the world engage in dialogue with the audience.

At LUCAS, participation means to »Get Involved!«: Young people are invited to actively shape the festival in a variety of roles – as moderators, jury members or film critics, festival reporters or curators.

For film industry professionals, panel discussions address topics related to film education and current trends in film production for children and young audiences.

Minikino Film Week ke-12 telah berakhir.

Kami bersyukur atas kesempatan untuk terhubung dengan para pembuat film, pecinta film, dan teman-teman dari berbagai negara, bertukar cerita, perspektif, dan pengalaman sepanjang acara. Terima kasih kepada semua yang telah bergabung dan menjadikan seluruh pekan ini sebagai kenangan yang indah dan bermakna.

As part of the 8th Short Film Market, Minikino Film Week 12 brought together filmmakers, festival programmers, producers, distributors, and other film professionals in one space to exchange perspectives on the evolving short film ecosystem.

Other than discussions, invited guests were also introduced to Denpasar through a city walk exploring some of the city’s historic areas. This offered an opportunity to experience the local environment, learn about Denpasar's cultural and historical context, and engage in informal conversations with people from the local community.
