Thanks to The Step Up Sorority, she experienced one of the most iconic festivals in the creative world, up close.

💌 message from our founder

Last month, something historic happened. I was able to take 3 members of my organisation to Cannes. These three incredible young women of colour from The Step-Up Sorority walked the stages, streets, and sessions of the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity — one of the most prestigious events in our industry 🚀

They didn’t just attend.
They belonged.
They learned, connected, and were seen.

And my heart could hardly take it 🥹

When I founded The Step-Up Sorority — the first UK-based sorority created for and by women of colour — it was a rebellion against the “not enoughs.”
Not enough access.
Not enough representation.
Not enough space at the table.

But we are enough.
More than enough.
And now, we’re taking up space — with style, power, and purpose.

To watch these brilliant “little sisters” step into rooms we were once told weren’t “for us”… it was emotional in the deepest way.
As a woman of colour who’s navigated these spaces feeling like the only one in the room, being able to pay it forward like this is a full-circle moment I’ll never take for granted.

This isn’t just a trip to a festival.
It’s a statement:
We are here.
We are coming.
And we’re bringing the next generation with us.

Here’s to rising together.
And to every woman of colour who dares to dream big — we’re just getting started. 🤎
