SS Iron Crown, lost off the coast of Gippsland on 4th June 1942 by a torpedo from Japanese submarine 1-27. 37 sailors lost at sea with no known grave. Lest we forget 🌺 Maritime Union of Australia - MUA

On Merchant Navy day we will begin a tribute of 39 ships lost and the hundreds of souls lost at sea with no grave. Point danger has a memorial walkway commemorating ships lost in our waters during WW2. The following are their stories. Lest we forget those poor souls lost at sea. Fair winds and following seas. PTE Arty Linter and the Linter family, a story of sacrifice that built Australia. In a few short years both parents and 3 brothers would die either farming in Rockhampton or in fighting in France. Arty was a veteran of the 15th Bn AIF at Bullecourt and younger brother Tommy that never stopped looking for him. Lest we forget 🌺

SGT Jimmy Lantang, a 24yo in 1940, a Dutch East Indies flight mechanic on Mitchell bombers in 18 Sdn KNIL (Dutch Air Force). He escaped the Japanese invasion of Java to join and fly with Aussies for the next 3 years of the war until Java was liberated. He later Immigrated to Australia. Tidied by Project Norden Veterans.

FO Garnett Judd DFC, an 18yo Postie from Newcastle in 1940, became an RAAF pilot of Beaufighters, nicknamed “the whispering death”. He was posted to 600 (London) Squadron RAF and flew 56 combat missions over France, Italy and Germany. An absolute warrior of the sky and Aussie legend. Tidied here by Project Norden veterans. Apparently this is a thing that “influencers” do lol We are honestly truly humbled though, we never thought a couple of crusty old paratroopers and ex-police would have over 5000 people follow us tidying graves and telling stories!! You’re all bloody legends!!
