Myself, Rick & Jonathan Porter have spent a relentless week in the German archives in Stuttgart. Between us, we’ve taken more that 20,000 photos of German reports, diaries, maps from the battle of the Somme. Many files have never been opened since the War. Non stop 5 straight days of page turning & Clicking .
We now have a treasure trove of information. It’s going to take some kind of effort to translate it all but we are beyond excited to see what we have.
Some of these files are incredible.

Through the German archives, we have finally managed to put a face to the name. Here is a picture of Lieutenant Georg Muller, the soldier who took the glass home and whose family returned it decades later. The church is in the background.

Today, a RE sketch showing 252nd Tunnelling Co’s progress of H3, the mine tunnel towards Hawthorn Ridge. You will notice the dog leg which is there because they hit a heavy belt of flint and had to divert course around it. You will also see the tunnel H3.1 to aid spoil removal.

A very successful evening at Brantwood Football Club in Belfast. Rocky presented on the Caretakers of the Ulster Tower and Jonathan Porter presented on the German research for his new volume of Zero Hour Z Day. Huge thanks go the Neil Black and the lads for putting it all together. @
