We will be live from Sunken lane & Beaumont Hamel tomorrow morning from 6.15am UK time, 7.15am French time for the ceremony of remembrance marking 110th Anniversary of the start of the battle of the Somme

1st July Commemorations for 110

Please Join us in Sunken Lane from 7am onwards. We will have a marquee with a fantastic display of research from our recent trips to the German archives. Photos, Documents, maps & plans etc. Then we will have our usual ceremony at the Hawthorn Crater.

Access to Beaumont Hamel is not restricted until later in the morning.

We look forward to seeing you early on 1st.

A fellow Founder Member of the HRCA, instrumental in reinstating the Flagstaff memorial & Ceremony at Beaumont Hamel marking the 51st Highland div actions 13/11/1916. RIP our Dear Friend

Myself, Rick & Jonathan Porter have spent a relentless week in the German archives in Stuttgart. Between us, we’ve taken more that 20,000 photos of German reports, diaries, maps from the battle of the Somme. Many files have never been opened since the War. Non stop 5 straight days of page turning & Clicking .
We now have a treasure trove of information. It’s going to take some kind of effort to translate it all but we are beyond excited to see what we have.
