🌺📣| Did you now ? |🌸🌲
Last winter, our master craftsmen constructed a bespoke Soil Exchange Box dedicated to David Gallaher, the renowned former All Blacks captain who lost his life in Belgium during the First World War.
A commemorative ceremony and a television documentary were organised to pay tribute to his memory through a symbolic exchange of soil linking the cemetery where he is laid to rest, his birthplace, and Eden Park in New Zealand, where his sporting legacy was forged.
This meaningful exchange was carried out by former All Blacks captain Sir Sean Fitzpatrick, in honour of David Gallaher's enduring legacy and remarkable contribution to rugby history.

🌺| Thiepval Memorial - 94yo | 🇫🇷 🇬🇧🌷
On August 1, 1932, the Thiepval Memorial in the Somme was officially inaugurated. 🇬🇧
The largest Commonwealth war memorial in the world, it commemorates more than 72,000 British and South African soldiers who went missing during the Battle of the Somme, one of the deadliest battles of the First World War.

The memorial was unveiled 90 years ago (26th July 1936). We are privileged to maintain the memorial on behalf of the Canadian authorities and support the work of our friends at the The Vimy Foundation.
But did you know that we also care for two cemeteries within the grounds of the wider Vimy Memorial Park? Givenchy Road Canadian Cemetery and Canadian Cemetery No. 2 contain thousands of Canadian burials, and many of other Commonwealth nationalities.
-Vimy memorial is 20min from our Beaurains CWGC Visitor Centre.
