This week in Slovenia, we gathered a small group of people to talk about something many of us struggle with — money.

The focus group, organised by Premiki Institute as part of the EmpowerAbility project, gathered individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges who were willing to share what managing money really feels like in everyday life. From confusing bank messages to end-of-month stress, from unexpected expenses to the fear of “doing something wrong” — the conversation was open, honest, and at times very personal.

Because financial literacy is not only about numbers.
💪 It is about feeling confident.
🛡️ It is about feeling safe.
🫂 It is about knowing you are not alone.

We truly appreciate everyone who showed up and spoke so openly. What was shared in that room will directly influence how we design our future workshops — in a way that feels realistic, supportive, and grounded in real experiences.

The project is co-funded by the European Union (EU) through the Agence Erasmus+ France / Education Formation.

Have you ever stopped to think whose voices should guide the solutions we design? And how much stronger our work becomes when we truly listen?

Our Spanish partner Fundación Sorapán de Rieros held two key focus groups for our project:

🔹 one with mental health professionals,
🔹 another with people with lived experience.

Two conversations. Two perspectives. One shared goal: shaping training that genuinely meets the needs of individuals with mental health disorders.

These sessions offered a powerful reminder: 👉 Meaningful impact starts with listening to the people who matter most.

How often do we pause, ask the right questions — and really listen?

✨ Building a more inclusive and accessible Europe requires concrete action, collaboration, and a shared long‑term vision. These principles are fully aligned with the core priorities of the Erasmus+ programme, which guide and inspire our project.

👉 We empower individuals with mental health disorders (MHD) through tailored financial literacy training that promotes inclusion and diversity. This approach strengthens participants’ social and economic participation, while addressing the barriers they often face in accessing education, employment, and everyday opportunities.

At the same time, we work to expand accessibility and uptake of adult education, designing personalised learning pathways that close important skills gaps and make education more inclusive for disadvantaged groups.

Through practical, experience‑based training, the project also supports upskilling and reskilling, equipping participants with the competencies needed to move toward economic independence and long‑term growth.

🔍 Our commitment is clear: contribute to a Europe where empowerment, equal opportunities, and lifelong learning are not aspirations, but realities.

Because financial education is not just about money, it’s about opportunity.
