This weekend, Rotaract Amiens took part in an international gathering in Utrecht — a perfect illustration of the strength of the Rotaract network.
Rotaractors from across Europe, as well as the USA, Brazil, and Ukraine came together to share cultures, ideas, and commitments. Beyond the connections made and the discovery of specialties from all over Europe, the conferences we attended carried powerful messages.
One of the key themes was “Water for Peace.” Water is not just a resource — it is a geopolitical, social, and humanitarian issue. Access to water influences public health, migration, economic stability, and cooperation between nations. The discussions highlighted how water diplomacy can act as a tool for conflict prevention, encouraging collaboration instead of competition. A strong reminder that sustainable management of natural resources is directly linked to peacebuilding.
We also explored why the Netherlands is one of the most bike-friendly countries in the world. Cycling here is a true urban philosophy: safe infrastructure, accessibility for all, and environmental commitment. This model shows that investing in soft mobility improves quality of life, public health, and the sustainability of our cities.
This trip was a blend of learning, cultural discovery, and international connection. Moments like these remind us of the power of the Rotaract network when people come together around shared values, dialogue, and concrete action.
Rotaract Amiens is proud to have represented its club at this international meeting and returns home with new ideas, new inspiration… and the motivation to keep building impactful projects.
