PRAYER REQUEST...
My previous posts have already explained the celebration of Oct 18 2024 - 5th year Anniversary. Electrik Cafe is an outreach but as a neutral space. I never hide the reality that Jesus is my savior and about my faith in God's sovereignty. I listen and love without judging a huge variety of incredible people on different and unusual journeys. Here... the gospel is shared by actions, hugs, and acceptance. Not a conversation forced. The entire goal is LOVE centered in Christ, but NEVER in a way that isolates anyone.

OCTOBER 18 2024 .... 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY FOR ELECTRIK CAFE outreach in France via Cup of Hope .org

So much I want to say but will limit it. 25 years ago I felt a calling to start something that would be a safe, encouraging and out of the world cool place for ado's and young adults. At first I looked to rent a place in Boulder, CO... but then God intervened and threw up NEON signs unavoidable that His design was to go to France. From 2006 until 2016... I did expat accounting and then the miracle happened. I broke my back and needed a physical therapist for 3 months (who is now my hubby) but while a therapist he introduced me to the family selling the building I bought that is now Electrik Cafe outreach!! If you don't believe in God's design... HE loves the connect the dots game.

Another miracle that I must share... my husband, who at times doesn't completely appreciate all my time at the cafe for good reason ,,, he would like to see his wife more. However, this week he astounded me by bringing an elderly woman (his patient) to the cafe, She is severely depressed after her husband died recently and has been socially isolated. He realized our cafe would be her safe place. She was immediatly adopted by at least 5 members, young and old. Please pray for Claude.

Electrik Cafe outreach in France is celebrating our 5 year anniversary! Imagine that!!

Incredibly, despite our opening forced closed by Covid for over a year, we now have over 200 members (teens, autism and health groups, retired people, people who need help with social skills, those seeking a community.

Best for me is how many people old and young who come briefly, without staying, but just ask for a Linda hug. I started a hugging trend in a culture that doesn't hug. Wow!!

Can I confess? I know I should not find joy in moments of victory in what I knew God would accomplish despite those who tried so much to discourage and stop me. I think in our lives, each challenge, we will have those who encourage and those who pass on their personal fears. All I can offer is to say, I try with much failure, to simply stay in either the passenger seat or the seat in the boat without paddles. But if we believe there is a God who is in control, who knows our deepest secrets, knows us more than we know ourselves... then there is hope.

Today asking for prayer for 3 transgender teens who come in regularly, and whom ask for hugs each time. First off, I probably need to explain that in France, the normal greeting is a superficial whisper of a kiss on each check. I started introducing the Texas hug... which has become so popular that all age groups just stop by and ask for a Linda hug. The prayer request is not specific but just to ask help through their confusion.

The intent of Cup of Hope, Inc. is to help establish youth focused community centers in key areas of the globe where hope has greatly diminished and issues such as substance abuse and depression have increased AND where there are currently no programs in place to make a difference.

Our Mission: To encourage today’s youth to find real and lasting hope, to avoid pitfalls and for those who stumble, to believe in second chances.

Core Values: We hope to be living examples of our values no matter where we might serve. Though we are not a religious organization, we are inspired by biblical values.​

2018: This year we are opening a youth center café called “Electrik Café” in Albertville, France. It is located in walking distance from 2 high schools and in an area where youth hang out all the time.
