It's advance warning I know, but here is this years Programme and Themes for Fête de la Peinture, Sunday 30th August 2026.
Some of our founder members have been participating for many years and can tell you that it is a fabulous day out - whether you participate or come as a visitor.
One of the themes may seem a little confusing - but it is actually a colour - a flesh tone - you'll need to look it up for it's exact shade, but it is there as an inspiration prompt. There will also be a live model holding a pose - always an interesting option.
There are prizes for all participant as well as those who come 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age/theme category.
There is food, a street brocante and music.

📚 Poetry with Kate Rose 📲
Tuesday 2nd June, starts at 7pm.
A monthly online poetry Zoom event for any Dragon, or friends of Dragons, to meet up and consider in depth modern poets.

Everyone who loves poetry and wants to develop a deeper knowledge are most welcome.

Guest poets will be invited to talk about their own poetry and the poets and poems that have influenced their work.

Price: 20€ for up to 3 workshops (with 6€ surcharge, for just one of the options)
There will be a range of creative workshops all around 1.5hrs, including, writing for beginners, hand-sewing, wire bookmark making, creative mentoring, a creative session, wax-scented decorations and more. Why not come and enjoy a lovely day out amongst like-minded people. There will be a pop-up café on site - sandwiches, cakes, and drinks. We will also have a pop-up creative shop showcasing the creations of our members.

🎨 A fun and relaxed afternoon - starting with a bring and share lunch, followed by creative workshops. At least one for writers and the other will be 'How to make your own artist's charcoal' followed by using the charcoal in a tonal study. Be prepared for mucky fingers!!
🖌 Additional art materials will be available, or bring your own - sketching, painting, chatting... there are lots of things to paint or draw in the garden, the view or around the house (such as still life props).
🧶 There will also be a crotchet and knitting area - just come and chill out and be creative.
🍰 There will be a cream tea (please book in advance) - or a tasty slice of cake, and teas, coffee and cold drinks all included throughout the afternoon. Donations for the cream tea are optional, just to cover the cost.

Are you a writer looking for community, motivation, and creative support? ✍
The Dragon’s Pen Association welcomes writers of all levels — from complete beginners to published authors — to join our friendly writing group, both in person and online.

Our in-person sessions take place in a café at Châtelus-Malvaleix, where you can purchase food beforehand and enjoy drinks during the session while we write and chat. It’s a supportive, encouraging space to focus on your work, share ideas, and connect with fellow creatives.
✍ This month: Tuesday 14th at 2.30pm

Can’t make it in person? We also run an online Zoom equivalent between meetups, so you can stay inspired wherever you are and enjoy a writing sprint after.

New peeps are welcome to attend after joining Dragon’s Pen as a member to be part of our growing creative community. 👉 Only 20€ for the year!

Come along to our monthly Creative group on Zoom! 🎨
The idea is that each month we will be given a prompt - it could be a word, a phrase, a picture...and we have a month to create something inspired by it - whether a poem, a story or a piece of artwork. The choice is yours. We then meet again on Zoom at 4pm the first Sunday of each month, to share and chat and at the end of each meeting a new prompt is given.
The Zoom link will be shared in the WhatsApp and Facebook groups nearer the time.
These online events are open to members only and free.
