Empower Her – Sunday Reflection

This week we reflected on Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV's call to safeguard human dignity in an age of artificial intelligence and rapid technological change.

The message is both timely and challenging: progress must never come at the expense of people. Technology can connect, educate, heal and improve lives, but it can also divide, control and reduce human beings to data, performance and productivity. True progress is measured not simply by innovation, but by whether it promotes dignity, justice, freedom and the common good.

Pope Leo contrasts two powerful biblical images: Tower of Babel and Nehemiah.

The Tower of Babel represents pride, self-sufficiency and the desire to "make a name" for ourselves. Nehemiah represents prayer, shared responsibility, restoration and rebuilding with God at the centre. While The Tower of Babel asks, "What can we build for ourselves?" Nehemiah asks, "What has God called us to restore together?"

The challenge before us is not only about technology; it is about how we live each day. In our homes, workplaces, churches and communities, are we building towers for our own recognition, or are we rebuilding walls of faith, hope, compassion and community?

As we journey through the week, we are invited to reflect on:

• What section of the wall has God entrusted to me to rebuild?
• What am I building for my own name that I need to surrender to God?
• What rubble have I been avoiding that God is calling me to face honestly?

May we choose the way of Nehemiah: rebuilding with humility, working together, and keeping both God and human dignity at the centre of every decision.

Sundays session saw us taking a dive in to the life of Sarah who later on became Sarah: Mother of Nations

Sarah's journey reminds us that God's promises are never limited by our circumstances. Called alongside Abraham into the unknown, she walked a path marked by waiting, uncertainty, mistakes, and ultimately, miraculous fulfilment.

Though Sarah grew impatient and tried to help God's plan through her own efforts, God remained faithful to His covenant. When she heard that she would bear a son in her old age, she laughed in disbelief. Yet at 90 years old, she gave birth to Isaac, and her laughter turned into joy.

Key Lessons from Sarah's Story:
• Nothing is impossible for God.
• God's timing is perfect, even when we don't understand it.
• Our impatience does not cancel God's promises.
• Faith grows when we surrender control and trust His plan.
• Seasons of waiting can prepare us for seasons of blessing.

When life feels uncertain and the promise seems delayed, remember Sarah's story. The God who made a way for her is still at work today. Trust Him, be patient, and find joy in the journey.

Different seasons. Same God. Same purpose.

What is your purpose THIS season?

So often the world tells us our value is tied to achievement, plans, productivity, or having everything figured out. But God reminds us that purpose is found first in Him — day by day, season by season.

We shared gratitude for the gifts God has placed in our lives: children, grandchildren, friendships, and colleagues who have become family. We also acknowledged the tension many of us carry — hope mixed with anxiety, trust mixed with fear. When we rated our sense of purpose from 1–10, most of us landed at 8… a reminder that many of us are still navigating uncertainty while learning to trust God through it.

Some words that came up during our reflections:
✨ Trust
✨ Empowered
✨ Optimistic
✨ Grateful
✨ Renewed
✨ Peace
✨ Focused
✨ Galvanized / Electrified

But alongside those were real fears too:
• Worry about our children’s futures
• Comparison and pressure to “figure it all out”
• Wondering if things will truly be okay when life feels misaligned
• Learning to choose faith over fear

One reminder stayed with us strongly:
🌿 “Courage is not the absence of fear.”

Faith does not mean pretending life is easy. Trust means believing God is still present even when the path ahead feels unclear. Seasons ebb and flow. Some days we feel certain; other days we wait. Yet God remains faithful through all of it.

Some of the scriptures that grounded our discussion included:
📖 Romans 8:38–39
📖 Proverbs 3:5–6
📖 Psalm 23:2
📖 Psalm 119:125
📖 Psalm 18:28
📖 Psalm 107:1
📖 Romans 12:12

Especially this reminder: 📖 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” — Ephesians 2:10

We left today holding both honesty and hope — not denying the hard parts of life, but trusting the One who walks with us through every season. 🤍

Today, we reflected on Faith vs Trust.

Faith believes that God can.
Trust says, “Even if I do not understand, I will still follow Him.”

Through Daniel 3, we saw that Daniel's three friends trusted God even if the outcome was not what they hoped for.

Peter (Matthew 14:22-36) walking on water reminded us that faith can waver when we focus on our circumstances, but trust grows when our eyes stay on Jesus.

Abraham (Genesis 22) showed us that trust goes beyond logic, while Job showed us that trust can remain even without answers.

✨ Key reminders:
• Faith believes in God’s power.
• Trust surrenders the outcome to God.
• Trust is built through obedience, patience, and surrender.
• God is still faithful, even in uncertainty.

As we enter this new week, may we continue trusting God beyond what we can see. He is present, faithful, and still working 🌸

Yesterday, we continued our reflection and study of Ecclesiastes:

Ecclesiastes reminds us that life isn’t random; it moves with purpose, timing, and rhythm under God’s hand.

📖 Ecclesiastes 3 – Reflection

There is a season for everything. In the highs and the lows, the beginnings and the endings, God is present through it all. Life will always bring change, but each moment carries meaning when we trust His timing.

We may not always understand what God is doing, but His work is eternal, perfect, and beautiful in its time. What feels uncertain to us is never out of His control.

This chapter also reminds us how limited we are. Earthly success, power, and even life itself are temporary—but God sees all and will bring justice in His time.

🌱 Seasons Matter
Every season has purpose:
• Joy teaches gratitude
• Sorrow deepens our dependence on God
• Change grows and refines us

🌿 Work & Rest
Work is a gift—it’s how we steward what God has given us.
Rest is also a gift—it renews and restores us.
Both are part of God’s design for a balanced, flourishing life.

✨ Takeaway
Life changes, seasons shift—but God remains constant.
Trust His timing, embrace each season, and find peace in knowing that everything has meaning in Him.

🌿 Finding Calm Amidst the Chaos 🌿

Life doesn’t always slow down—but peace is still possible. Throughout Scripture, we see powerful reminders that calm isn’t found in perfect circumstances, but in trusting God right in the middle of the storm.

✨ Moses found peace while leading through pressure
✨ David turned his emotions into worship and healing
✨ Jesus Christ showed us that peace is active, not passive—even in suffering
✨ Paul the Apostle revealed that peace flows through prayer and gratitude
✨ Mary, mother of Jesus embraced peace through surrender and acceptance
✨ Job reminds us that peace can coexist with pain

💭 Reflection:
Where is God inviting you to surrender today?
Peace doesn’t just happen—it’s intentional.

🌊 Simple Ways to Practise Peace Daily:
• Take micro-pauses (30–90 seconds) to reset
• Pause and breathe before starting your day
• Turn everyday moments into worship (walking, chores, waiting)
• Detox from devices—even briefly
• Sit in stillness before stepping into your next task

🕊️ Key Reminder:
Peace is not the absence of chaos—it’s choosing God in the midst of it.
Let go. Be still. Surrender. Let His peace flow like water.

💡 The past can hold you back—release it.
💡 Prayer and surrender go hand in hand.
💡 Even generational struggles can be broken through consistent prayer.

Peace is active. Peace is intentional. Peace is yours.

Last Sunday’s sharing was inspired by the recent passing of Ratu Epeli and the many heartfelt comments describing him as kind, humble, and down to earth. It raised an honest question for all of us:

What would people say about us?

So often, we hear beautiful tributes at funerals but rarely do we pause to reflect on our own lives while we still have the opportunity to grow, change, and live intentionally.

This led us into a time of self-reflection: taking stock of where we are and where God is calling us to grow, transform, and be more disciplined.

📖 Key scriptures:
• Psalm 139:23–24
• Lamentations 3:40
• 2 Corinthians 13:5
• Romans 12:2
• 2 Timothy 1:7

We also explored John Wesley’s 22 self-reflection questions, designed for honest, daily spiritual accountability, challenging us to look deeper into our walk with God.

✨ Key Takeaways:
• Self-reflection draws us closer to God and helps us recognise His work in our lives
• Every moment: good or difficult, is an opportunity for growth
• When we ignore life’s lessons, we miss what God is trying to shape within us

We closed with a powerful reminder from 2 Peter 1:5–8—to keep growing, adding to our faith, and living a fruitful life. 💛

18/04/2026

On Thursday, we delved in to the book of 2 Chronicles and the life of King Jehoshaphat (King David's great, great, great grandson) focusing on his story in 2 Chronicles chapter 20.

Victory Starts with God 👑✨
The life of King Jehoshaphat reminds us that real strength isn’t found in ourselves—but in our surrender to God.

When crisis came, he didn’t panic—he prayed, fasted, and sought God first. And in the face of fear, he chose worship over worry… and saw God bring victory.

Key takeaways:
• Seek God first, especially in crisis
• The battle belongs to the Lord—not us
• Praise is powerful—even in uncertainty
• Be mindful of the company and alliances you keep
• Build your life on God’s Word
• Stay humble and teachable
• Remember God’s faithfulness in every season

Even with moments of poor judgment, Jehoshaphat’s story shows that a heart fully committed to God leads to peace, restoration, and breakthrough.

Let worship lead. Let God fight. 🙏

Sundays session reminded us that Grace means receiving God’s love, forgiveness, and help without earning it. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about trusting a perfect God. Grace is Gods favour.

Key reminders:
• We all fall short—no one can earn God’s approval
• Grace begins where our effort ends
• Grace isn’t optional—it’s essential

Bible verses we reflected on:

Ephesians 2:8–9 (NIV)
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me
