Oxfam in the Pacific as a member of the PRNGO Alliance was honoured to have been part of the Pacific Islands Forum Women Leaders CSO and Private Sector Dialogue.

Our Executive Director, Eunice Wotene, spoke at the meeting highlighting the importance of reflecting on and drawing from the legacy of political commitments like the 1994 Pacific Platform for Action, while also recognising that without addressing the heavy care workload carried by women and girls as well as the shockingly high rates of physical and technology-facilitated violence that they experience, we cannot achieve the economic and financial freedom that all women and girls across the Pacific deserve.

Eunice also underscored the need for Pacific governments to embed gender equality and disability-inclusion in economic governance, to adopt a regional safeguards approach for women’s economic security, and to resource intersectional implementation and accountability.
