| Strengthening Regional Solidarity for the Pacific Human Rights Conference 2026
We were honoured to meet with Her Excellency Chantal Galenon, Vice-President of French Polynesia, during her visit to Suva for the Women's Leaders Meeting.
Our discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming Pacific Human Rights Conference for SOGIESC+ (PHRC 2026), scheduled to take place in Tahiti from 19–21 October 2026. Key areas of discussion included:
- The current financial status of PHRC 2026;
- The prospects for maintaining the conference on its scheduled dates;
- Ongoing efforts to mobilise additional financial resources and partnerships;
- Coordination arrangements between the Regional Organising Committee and the Local Organising Committee in the months ahead.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Vice-President Galenon and the Government of French Polynesia for their continued commitment, solidarity, and leadership as Co-Hosts of this important regional gathering.
Their support comes at a critical time as we work collectively to overcome funding challenges and ensure that diverse voices from across the Pacific can participate meaningfully in this landmark conference.
PHRC 2026 represents a unique opportunity to advance human rights, inclusion, equality, and dignity for SOGIESC+ communities throughout the Pacific region. It will provide a vital platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, capacity building, and regional collaboration among community leaders, human rights defenders, governments, development partners, and civil society organisations.
As we move closer to the conference, we respectfully call upon our development partners, donors, philanthropic organisations, private sector allies, and stakeholders to join us in supporting this important initiative.
Your contribution will help ensure that Pacific representatives; including those from remote and under-resourced communities can participate, share their lived experiences, and help shape a more inclusive and equitable future for our region.
Together, we can strengthen Pacific solidarity, amplify marginalized voices, and create lasting impact for human rights across our Blue Pacific continent.
Vinaka vakalevu, Māuruuru, and thank you for your continued partnership and support.
