The Pacific Centre for Peacebuilding (P*P) is thrilled to share the successful implementation of our 4-day Conflict Analysis and Restorative Justice Training for 25 dedicated officers of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF)! 🇫🇯🤝

Convened at the Pasifika Communities University, the week kicked off with an inspiring opening by Lieutenant Colonel Sophie Waters, the UK Defence Advisor at the British High Commission, Suva, Fiji. She highlighted the vital intersection between the military, peace, and security, emphasizing how deep connections to the general public form the bedrock of a peaceful society.

Over the intense four days, these officers delved into crucial topics aimed at broadening perspectives and transforming approaches to security:

🔹 An RFMF History Walk – Reflecting on the journey and evolution of the force.

🔹 Conflict Analysis & Adaptive Peacebuilding – Learning to navigate and de-escalate complex situations dynamically.

🔹 Restorative Justice – Shifting the focus toward healing, accountability, and rebuilding relationships.

🔹 Constitutionalism – Grounding leadership in the legal framework of our nation.

To wrap up the powerful week, P*P Board Member Mr. Sekove Naqiolevu officially closed the training, expressing our deepest gratitude to the Commander and the senior command of the RFMF for their unwavering support and commitment to building a more peaceful Fiji.

This impactful training was made possible through the generous funding from the UK in Fiji - British High Commission and our valued partnership with Conciliation Resources. Vinaka vakalevu to our partners and the RFMF officers for your incredible dedication and collaboration! 🇬🇧🕊️🇫🇯

As tomorrow, May 15, is a public holiday, Pacific Centre for Peacebuilding is marking Girmit Day today and with full hearts, acknowledging the profound courage and resilience of the Girmitiya, those who journeyed from India to Fiji under indenture, carrying with them their culture, spirit, and hope for a better future.

Their story is one of struggle, survival, and strength and it is woven into the very fabric of who we are as a nation.

As peacebuilders, we recognise that lasting peace is built on truth, memory, and respect for all people's histories. Today, we honour that legacy.

The Pacific Centre for Peacebuilding had the honor of celebrating Mothers day with the incredible women of the Nasinu Sanatan Nari Sabha. With heartfelt poems, songs and inspiring stories each of the eight women's groups affliated to this organization shared tributes to motherhood highlighting the strength, resilience and love that mothers have.
Mothers are the backbone of our communities nurturing not only their families but also fostering hope and empowering the next generation. As we celebrate our mothers let us also recognize the importance of empowering women in all aspects of life. When women thrive, families flourish and communities grow stronger. Together, let us continue to uplift and support one another, honoring the invaluable role of mothers and all women in our lives.
