BSSP’s May Chapel was a blessed time of fellowship, reflection, and encouragement as we gathered together as one regional family in Christ. We were honoured to have Rev. Iote from Kiribati share the Word of God from Psalms 119:105 ~ “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” The message reminded us that God’s Word continues to guide and strengthen us in every season of ministry across the Pacific.

We were also blessed to be joined by staff from across the region — Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Kiribati, and Fiji. Our monthly chapel is a special time where staff share updates from the month of May, celebrate God’s faithfulness, and look ahead with hope and prayer for the month ahead.

As we continue serving the Bible mission in the Pacific, we ask for your prayers for the upcoming Bible Week/Month preparations in Vanuatu, Fiji, and Solomon Islands. May God open hearts and communities to engage deeply with His Word.

🌏🙏 UBS DAY OF PRAYER 2026 | SOUTH PACIFIC UPDATE 🙏🌏

This year, the Bible Society of the South Pacific joined the global United Bible Societies fellowship in celebrating the UBS Day of Prayer 2026 and the 80th Anniversary of UBS.

Across the Pacific, we gathered together in prayer, thanksgiving, and unity — lifting up the ministries, translation projects, outreach programs, and communities we serve throughout Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, New Caledonia, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, Nauru, and Niue.

We thank God for every faithful servant, translator, board member, volunteer, church partner, and supporter helping bring God’s Word to the people of the Pacific in languages and formats they understand best.

📣Celebrating the Tongan Compact Bible at Queen Salote College Centenary📣

The centenary of Queen Salote College marks a milestone in the history of education and Christian witness in Tonga. As students, teachers, alumni, and families gather to celebrate 100 years of faith and learning, it is fitting that the Word of God holds a central place in these celebrations.

A highlight of the centenary is the revised Tongan Compact Bible (Moulton Version), prepared and printed in time for this historic occasion. For generations, the Scriptures have guided the spiritual formation of students at Queen Salote College, shaping character, faith, and leadership among its alumni.

Advancing Bible Translation and Mission in Tonga

The work of Bible Translation continues to be at the heart of Bible Society Oceania – Tonga Missions in 2026. With dedication and unity, our teams are prayerfully working toward completing three major Bible projects this year: the Tonga West Revised Version, the Tongan Contemporary Bible, and the Tongan Catholic Bible.

Project Spotlight | Gospel of Luke in Fiji 🇫🇯📖

We thank God for the ongoing work of translating the Gospel of Luke into the 10 communalects of Fiji.

We are especially grateful that our team was able to complete community reviews for three communalects: Mualevu (Vanua Balavu), Waimaro, and Rakiraki. These sessions helped ensure the translation is clear, accurate, and meaningful for local communities.

This is an important step in helping people read and understand God’s Word in their own heart language. 🙏✨

A glimpse of the Deaf Bible Translation Training held in Honiara last week 👋📖

It was an inspiring time of learning, collaboration, and empowerment as participants were equipped with skills to help make God’s Word accessible in sign language for the Deaf community. Together, we continue working toward a future where everyone can engage with Scripture in their own heart language. 💙✨

🌍📖 Country Spotlight | End-to-End Scripture Engagement Training – Port Vila, Vanuatu

From 17–19 February 2026, the Vanuatu Christian Council, in partnership with Faith Comes By Hearing and the Bible Society of the South Pacific, successfully introduced the End-to-End (E2E) Scripture Engagement Training in Port Vila.

Over three days, 34 participants from churches and parachurch organizations across the country were equipped with practical and sustainable strategies to strengthen Bible engagement—especially through Audio Bibles and heart-language Scriptures. The training highlighted key insights such as overcoming barriers to vernacular Scripture use and empowering leaders for evangelism, discipleship, and community outreach.

What makes this moment even more special is how perfectly it aligns with the approach of International Mother Language Day—celebrating language, identity, and the power of God’s Word being heard and understood in one’s own heart language. This training is a powerful reminder that Scripture engagement is deeply connected to culture, language, and community transformation.

The program concluded with the dedication of the Hano Audio Bible, the commissioning of new ministry uniforms, and the presentation of Audio Proclaimers to support listening groups and evangelism across Vanuatu—marking both celebration and a call to action.

Together, this training reflects a strong spirit of unity and partnership as churches and ministries commit to seeing God’s Word continue to transform lives and communities throughout Vanuatu. 🙏
