During Mental Health Awareness Month, the Fiji Counsellors Association was grateful to be part of the Mental Health Awareness Session hosted by the Rotary Club of Suva Central at the University of Fiji on Saturday, 9 May 2026.
Representing FCA, our President Joseph Snodgrass spoke on the need to move beyond awareness alone and focus on the quality of mental health support in Fiji. While data, funding, and reports are important, we must never lose sight of the people behind the numbers.
Mental health is a lived reality in our homes, schools, workplaces, churches, and communities. As FCA, we believe this work must remain professional, ethical, culturally grounded, and people centred.
We thank the Rotary Club of Suva Central, Mending Minds Foundation Fiji, BIRTH Fiji, Life Skills Education Institute, the University of Fiji, and all partners and participants who supported this important conversation.
Let us continue moving from awareness to access, from access to quality, and from quality to healing.
